Parachute 09

Oh man..... where to start?
Parachute 09 was amazing. The best weekend in my entire life. Yep. Most definitely.
Okay i'm gonna take ages to type this. oh so what -
The Rapture Ruckus concert on friday night was sooooo epic. They had these two mean as new songs, Hold On almost made u cry.... it was that touching! - and Catch me Riding which was also amazing. And there were fireworks and gosh..... man it was incredible. Kutless on Saturday were awesome. This is like the first time they've ever been to New Zealand. And on Monday there was this mean as speaker called Chris Hill, after Parachute Band, and he was awesome! He killed
Barbie by dropping her off a window along with Ken..... its a long story, cum ask me about it if you're that interested.... anyway yess he was very very cool.
Casting Crowns were really good as well. On their second concert on Monday I was in the front row (of 35,000 people!!!!!) like as close as you could get! And I lost my phone in a Rapture Ruckus concert at Massive on Sunday and we were sure a teenager slipped it out of my pocket while standing on my toe and distracting me. We went to the lost and found centre but it wasn't there so i filled out a form. then me nd jord went to see kingston and Arms Reach it fully cheered me up. then i found my fone in the tent!!!!!!!! It must of fallen out when i ran back to get my rapture ruckus drumsticks to get signed... i never did get them signed anyway, sadly.and i fully remember closing the flip.... and it was open when i found it, and in like plain sight, and i'd already looked in there.... so yeah, pretty weird, but i've got it back so its all good. and we met this awesome NZ band called Smalltown Heroics, who think beka's cool. they like came out and met us. there was also this band of twelve year olds... there drummer was shorter than Me!!!!!!! they were pretty cool. we as a band are definitely going to play there next year. oh and they like got on MAINSTAGE!!!! Lucky aye? And at the rapture Ruckus concert they they threw out a chocolate bar and i actually got it... yesss it felt good it also tasted good but i won't go into that. And we met these cool as randoms who high-fived me and jords.... one of them gave jord a hug. And we also met these cool as Coke guyz who high-fived us too.
Me and Jords also ran into our friend Jacob from New Plymouth he can like ride the unicycle!!!!!!!! It was pretty cool. and the ember days are a really cool band they did their song Finger Painting which is basically a musical build-up with some mean bass in. it was really awesome on Sunday, Mainstage. Oh yeah, Family Force five were insane but realllly cool. Their drummer apparently did a handstand on his drums! And he also stood on them. i mean that is just crazy i wouldn't do that for a billion dollars. yesss i was pretty scared i couldn't believe it. in the rapture ruckus concert, their drummer and Brad (the main guy) did this awesome as drum solo. he had a three piece drum kit, a floot tom, a mid-tom, and a splash cymbal.... it sounded like a orchestra of drumz it was incredible! the coolest solo i've everrrr heard in my entire life. it was like ten minutes long! the crowd loved it. it was amazing what he could do with a three-piece drum set. i screamed until i couldn't scream any more. in fact i completely lost my voice on monday and sounded like i had the cold. i've only just got it back now on wednesday. anyway back to Parachute. Jords got lost in the Mumsdollar concert so i had to go look for him and then turns out he was moshing . don't laugh but i was looking for his red top when he'd put his other shirt on! so i like missed most of that concert. i also got two cd's, sanctus real and search the city awesome aye? and jord got the ember days new ep! oh yeah, and there was a cricket game with Family Force five and Kutless in oh gosh it was funny. and i spent $90.00 altogether not bad aye!? i was also in the front row when shooting stars came on... they're a side-project of mumsdollar. they were awesome. and in smalltown heroics their guitarist swung his guitar around but dropped it by accident it was sooo funny... then his strap for anutha guitar fell off. it was hilarious. On Friday at 5:00 the first proper concert, Addison were on. Never heard of them lol but was itching to see a band. They sucked . The drums were out of timme with the tune..... i mean the screams. they really wer pathetic. as soon as it started, a third of the crowd walked straight back out!
Yeah, it was the most rockin' weekend ever!
nate
ps i got the coolest hat ever!!!!!!
ps again on the way home my voice was weird as so me and William did heaps of songs in chipmunk version it was soooo mean

Lyrics for new song

So here's the lyrics for our new song in case anybody's wanting them.
It's a real mint song, nice and happy after the harder edge of Moonlight Shadows. It's basically a song I wrote about knowing who you are. Cos lots of people don't know who they are these days. They're fake copies of everybody else. The world puts lots of pressure on us to be this way, and this is kind of my answer to it:

Collisions, Decisions and Other Things

I've completly lost the plot/ I keep trying to be someone I'm not/ I'm no superhero/ And it's time for me to know

That my plans have all collided/ I think I've finally decided

I'm going to be myself/ Don't want to be anyone else/ Now I'm ready to rock and I'm ready to roll/ Cos I've learnt how to let go

And I don't want to be/ A wasted by-product from off t.v/And everybody's jumping now/ We don't need anyone to show us how

And I don't want to just comply/ Cos I've finally found a reply

Have I got your attention/ Cos I've got a question/ I'm still wondering why/ I don't know:who am I? / I am yours/ I've picked myself up off the floor/ I'm not running anymore/ I am yours

and thirdly, tomorrows Parachute! Oh man I'm excited!

Almost finished (but not quite)

There's only one more day until Parachute and I am so hyped. I couldn't go to sleep last night cos I was so busy thinking about it.
I printed off a program today and underlined all the bands I am going to see including some random bands who I've never heard of.
This is because last year we only went to see three bands. We were only there for a day, but still I reckon we could have seen way more. And if they suck well I can always walk out of there.
Today I finally got to watch my Parachute Band dvd from their new album Technicolour. It was real cool. Their lead singer Omega gave a testimony of how he almost committed suicide beacause he was born with no nose. Then God spoke to him and basicaly saved his life. After that he went to his bedroom, got out his guitar and sat down and wrote Mercy.
When you hear things like this you just know God is real and he's at work in this world, even though at times it dosn't feel like it.
Last night I finally thought of the chorus for a song I've been trying to write for so long now. I tried all these different ones but nothing seemed to work. Then suddenly it was just like God put the words on my heart.
It was awesome.
And we attempted to finish that song today but it went dumb. There was this bit I was supposed to play but I kept doing it in the wrong timing and couldn't get it right. Then finally I varied it a bit and got the timing right and Nate said that wasn't cool enough and I had to do the other way. Man! So we decided to leave it for today and try something new tommorrow.
Hopefully it works cos I really want to get that song done before Parachute.

2 days!

Wow i feel way better today. My spider bites shrivelled up a bit and looks like its on its way out. And my eye feels way better as well. And there's only two days left!!!!!
So its all good

I hate newly sealed roads

Well today went pretty well.
We tried to finish off our new song-it just needs the bridge now. So we decided it was time for a guitar solo.
This took sooooooooooooo long to work out because I couldn't think of anything. The boys got sick of it and went away. Then I came up with one and we tried it out, and ended up writing half the bridge. Then we had to stop. We were honestly trying to find something good for 3/4 of an hour!
So hopefully we can do the rest tomorrow.
Once it's finished it will be our third best song I reckon.
Speaking off songs we've still got a few older ones to fix up. Cling to the Cross, Under this Sun, and One Step Ahead.
And there's one new song I've written as well.

By the way there is now officially 3 days to Parachute (practically 2!) I am so excited that Arms Reach are playing Mainstage. Their new song Tired Eye's, Soft Light is real cool.
I am so getting their cd at Parachute.

Well that's about all which happened today apart from me making a bit more of my random movie. I'm up to the opening credits lol. Hopefully I get it done before Parachute!
And me and Beka went on a random run tonight to which was pretty cool except for the fact that the council has stupidly put new seals on half the roads in our town and I hate them! (New seal that is.) Because every time you walk on them all these sharp stones dig into your feet and the tar oozes through the multitude of gaps and sticks to your feet. It's truly disgusting.
And it's even worse driving on it!

Today was epic

Yeah today was epic!
First I spent almost an hour playing on my lovely guitar.
Then we did a spot of band practice, including our new song.
Which we were going to fix up but then we had to go to town. I drove, of course.
Then when we got home I find Beka has txtd me with the challenge of making a one man movie with a cowboy hat, a rubber ball, and a mop. It also had to include this punchline: If only rabbits ate broccoli instead of carrots.
Then we went on a paper run. When we got back I thought for a bit and set out to make my movie.
Only then before I had done 30 seconds of it, Will and Mitch turn up (cos we were showing George and Jane how to put up the tents for Parachute) and so I had to stop. They found out about my movie though and wanted to watch it. I didn't want them to cos they'd laugh o I hid the camera and they tried to find it. Eventually they blackmailed me, so I told them roughly where it was. So I let them watch it.
And they laughed.
So then we played Go home, Stay home, 1,2,3 until they had to go.
Then I did some more of my movie.
And that was pretty much all of my epic day.
I wasn't bored at all!
(Except I said I was in the morning when I wasn't that bored i just wanted to get out of bed. S0 Mum made me go and fold the washing. =[ . Fun)

almost four dayz!!!!!!!!

Yay, only five days and we'll be at Parachute 09! naa seriously, that's all we've been on about lately.
Too chance the topic, i think i'm getting better, which is really good. I've been to the hospital three times, and my eye's hopefully getting better - which it looks like it is according to Mum and Dad. I just hope I'm better by Parachute. I should be though.
Yeah and there's a variety concert at our church on the 29th of March. We've been thinking about going into it. Check that - we're going to go in it hopefully.
And that's about it for now
nate
ps i feel a bit better in myself too which is good too

when today sucks i look forward to tomorrow.

Well today was deadly boring.
Even worse than yesterday, cos it was raining so I couldn't do anything outside.
Tomorrow is going to be great.
It will be an epic.
That's what I love about life. Each day is like a brand new lifetime. You can make it what it is. You can fail, you can suceed, you can rise, you can fall, you can remember God or you can forget him in your business.
Or your boredness.
Tomorrow is what you make it.
So, what are you going to make it?

Boringness

Wowee.
Only 6 days left!
I know I've been raving on about it but there's not much else to rave on about. We did a song today which was good, cos we need practice. It sucked. So me and Nate went into the bedroom and we played it again and he kept me in time with his drumsticks.
The reason we didn't do any other songs is because every minute or so Nate's eye would start to-
I'll spare the details, but it isn't too bad. He just has to wipe it with a tissue.
Which wouldn't be very good in the middle of Moonlight Shadows.
Apart from that the rest of my day was pretty boring. Except for before when I went on a stroll with Buzz and she took my picture a few times, and I swung on the swing and yeah. It was pretty cool.
The thing I hate is the fact that it feels like I'm just counting up the days till Parachute. I'm not really doing anything in those days. AndI should be.
I just don't know what to do.
Maybe I'll have to make a random 1-man movie like I did last year.
Good times.
Todays motto: Don't waste the days which you're given. You don't know which one will be your last.
Do something significant.

I think blogging needs a few improvements

Well today started out with the bestest of intentions to do band practice. But then there was a garden to fix, weeding to be done, going to the dump, driving to town, a bit of guitar playing, moving tents, going swimming, helping with tea, helping Mum move stuff.............
So we didn't.
Oh well at least Nate's feeling better and there's only 8 days till Parachute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another mean piece of news is that Arms Reach have won the Wild card Competition and will be playing Mainstage Friday night!
I am going to mosh hardcore. Arms Reach are probably my faouritist Kiwi band!
One thing I can't believe is that in the whole lot of blogs there is out there, there is only three people on blogging that list Arms Reach under their favourite bands. One of them is me, another one's Beka, and the third one is some random.
Absolutely shocking.
I'd put Mayday on there but then I'd come up with all these randoms who have never heard of our band (unfortunately) but are followers of other real random bands out there who have the same name as us.
This I know because I attempted to google ourselves. It didn't work very well. In fact it didn't work it all.
Now if we had a myspace.............
Na I'm joking. The only reason I'd want one is because of those music players you can have on the side that play your music. They don't have THAT on blogs.
Not that it would do much good cos we havn't even recorded any of our songs really except for
I wish you were here but that version sucks.
Actually it's not much better now. Mostly because it requires constant practice and we keep forgetting to practice it.
Deep sigh.
So the only real reason I'd want a myspace is so I could google our band and come up with a perfectly legitimite website of us.

Jordan

P.s Any worrying people reading this should know I am only kidding even though I'd love to google our blog legitimitly and get here. It dosn't work though.

P.s I love New Zealand.

P.s I'm still not quite sure why I wrote that above statement. Very true, but extremly random.

Ps I think I'll hit my sleeping bag now.

P.s Poor sleeping bag

Rock the roof off!

Today was pretty mint we finally got to do band practice. Didn't finish off our new song though. I thought we would wait until Nate was feeling better. His drumming wasn't as good as usual.
I can't really talk though. I was seriously out of time in our accoustic song. Terrible. We'll have to fix that up before we go on stage.
We'll have to fix up quite a few things before we go on stage.
But oh well we're going to get on there and rock the roof off.
The only thing I can think of is Fuse, which we were planning to go with Ground Zero. William however dosn't seem to like the idea much. And we have only practiced twice, not the best formula for success!
We havn't even got a full song yet.
Oh well when Will gets back from his holiday I'll sort that out with him.
I just want to get Mayday on a stage for now.
We'll just have to wait and see what God makes of it. If he wants us to play a show, he'll make sure we can.

Stuff

Okay I reckon it's about time I updated this blog. I haven't written in here for ages!
On Tuesday the other cool thing which happened, apart from the going to the beach, was my cd's arrived! The one's which I'd won from the Soul Purpose competition!
So after putting all our stuff away I had a quick listen. The Parachute band cd is real cool. Most of the songs on it are awesome but I really like Come to the River and this other cool song called In Liberty.
And there's an All Left Out song on it. I thought it would be dumb, but to my surprise I actually liked it.
(Of course Parachute Band do it better than All Left Out. Trust me. I've heard both versions. And the only reason why is because Parachute Band can sing. All Left Out can't.)
The Primal Band cd is ok. If a bit boring. There's a few cool songs, but nothing very special. It's bordering on the edge of sound-alike syndrome (which is a made-term I invented for bands with songs that all sound the same. So each song sounds like the one before it, and it's sooooo unoriginal. In all it blends into a very long, very boring cd to listen to. )
And another mean thing happened. Yesterday I got my Learner's Licence! It actually looks real good and for once the photo of me isn't that bad.
Today was ok but we didn't work on the new song cos Nate was feeling sick. So I mostly just read my book.

Jordan

P.s If anyone liking All Left Out is reading this please don't get mad at me. They're an alright band (in fact once I thought they looked cool as!) but (ahem) their singer sucks.

New song!

Man I was so stoked that that song started working today.
Honestly we'd been trying that one out for AGES and it just wasn't working. We were about ready to give up on it. But today we were just jamming, as you do, and Daniel (yes Daniel, I myself am amazed) made up this cool as tune on the keyboard. Then Nate made up a roll to fit to it. Dad came in so we had to go to the bedroom, and I made up a cool as guitar bit.
You see, it just worked.
I love that when that happens.

Yep, there's only two weeks until Parachute 09! ONLY TWO WEEKS!
So, for the last two days we haven't done much at all really. Same today, xcept we've come up with a new song, which is going realllly well. We've made it up to the first chorus. At this rate its going to be our second best song. You never know, maybe the best! Stay tuned for more news, and we might pop up the lyrics as well.

Everybody hurts (because they're sunburnt)

Man I am soooo suburnt.
If there was a picture of me with just my togs on I'd look like some kind of red alien.
And I was a bit stupid cos I didn't put sunscreen on my legs. This is because I thought I would be in the water so they wouldn't be sunburnt.
Nice going.
Now they're red as tomatoes, tingly as sherbet and as hot as a stuffed turkey in an oven.
I'm pretty beached.
The reason I'm so sunburnt is because we went to the beach. It was a pretty mean time, despite the burn. We did all the usuals: swimming, eating, sunscreen-ing (not very well obviously), exploring, covering our feet with sand, building a sand castle, getting some sand (for my catapult), and lots more.
Anyway I've got to go to bed now (not that I could sleep with this darn sunburn annoying me!) so goodnight everyone and next time you're at the beach don't forget to put sunscreen on your legs!

17 days!

There's only 17 days to Parachute and I am soooooooooooooo excited!
I am so looking forward to all of the big acts (except Dave Dobbyn-I havn't heard much of him) but mostly Kutless and Casting Crowns. Cos I know heaps of their songs and a song is so better to mosh to if you know it.
And I am especially looking forward to seeing Arm's Reach. They are the coolest band!
I'm probably going to get their cd.
And tomorrow will be pretty mint too cos we're going to the beach.

Anyway, we tried to write a song today but it didn't work at all. I couldn't think of anything. Nate wasn't much help. He can't really be on the drums. He can't make up the beat for the song without a tune.
And Daniel, while good at playing what you show him, isn't very good at making songs up himself.
So once again I felt like I was writing the song. And I'm sick of writing songs by myself. I want us as a band to write one together. Like when we wrote Moonlight Shadows.

Jordan

bad timing

Right, so we're going to the beach tommorow. The Witheys were going to come but now I don't think they are. Now i have to go and get ready though.

Summer

One of my favourite summery things to do (that is now officially a word in my vocabulary), along wih the usuals: pick plums, play with friends, barbecues, camping, Parachute, sun, going to the beach, and swimming is a tradition us boys have. During the month of January we are not, under any circumstances, allowed to sleep in our own beds for more than 3 days.
So instead we sleep in our sleeping bags everywhere. Once we slept under the stars on a ground sheet: that was cool excpet the mozzies bit us to death. Another time we got sent inside cos we were too noisy, but we slept on top of our beds.
And today the freakiest thing ever happened. I woke up and threw off one of my blankets (cos it was a real cold night yesterday).
Only to discover on top if my other blanket, crawling along on top of me towards my face was a weta.
Luckily I'm not a wimp and have dealt with many weta's in my lifetime. So I took it outside, shook the blanket out, grabbed the axe and- yeah. You know.
It was quite freaky.
We're not going to be sleeping out there for a while.

Jordan

P.s Sorry to any animal lovers out there.

Priority's

Well someone posed a important question today.
It was in the middle of a sermon. Let's put it bluntly: it wasn't a very good sermon, and my mind kept wandering all over the place as it does when I'm bored.
The question was would you put all your dreams and plans on the line for God?
The typical Christian answer would, of course, be yes.
But if we go a little deeper is that the real answer?
That maybe God doesn't want us to rock the world? Maybe he wants us to do something else for him.
I don't know. But anyway the question is would you be willing to. And I looked at myself honestly today, and most of me said "No." even though I knew it should be saying "yes."
I reckon the new year is great start to get your priority's right. When we first started Mayday after watching a Lad's rockin' live dvd, we started it cos we thought it would be a bit of fun. Play a few gigs and stuff. Get up there.
Then at the Ember Days concert I realized that we'd been given these musical gifts to glorify God. To lift his name through how we play.
On a broader scale, all my songs I've written (except Kiwi on my Wall and The Complaint) make a statement. They're designed to encorouge people. I know I havn't been through half as much as some people but I say what I can.
So things to do this year: Surrender your plans to God. And go where he leads.

Run Kid Run rock!

Well I finished writing a song today, didn't think it was that great but yeah. Next thing to do is actually put music to one: we tried doing that the other day but it didn't work. I hate it when that happens.
Anyway today me and beka and nate went on a random run today and it was really fun. I love running but I didn't go so well because of this annoying skiing injury which I got in october last year.
And Nate showed me this real cool song he heard from off Life Fm (which is the best radio station in the world, by the way). It was called Sure Shot and it was by a band called Run Kid Run.
Wow. I just looked up the lyrics and they are mean.
Rise up to love, find your voice in the crowd/Sing your song aloud to those who just oppse the sound/We've got such a long way to go/Learning to trust while losing full control/Come fashion me for all to see You in me
This is a sure shot, why can't we just stop/And lose our gravity, rise up to reality/This is a sure shot, why can't we just stop/Echoing the world
I hear You, so soft, and subtle voice calling my name/Yet whispering Your words to me, a sure shot guarantee/So wake me up I've had enough/I've shut You out, closed my mouth too long to bleed sincerity/I'm not into deep now I'm awake/In You I found escape
This is a sure shot, why can't we just stop/And lose our gravity, rise up to reality/This is a sure shot, why can't we just stop/Echoing the world
It's time to face the world, face the world/Come together boys and girls, boys and girls/Voices lifted to the One rising up/We're going in with heads held high/Our eyes lifted to the sky, to the sky/Singing praises to the One worthy of/We are the voices of today/A generation that seeks Your way/We are the voices of today/We seek Your face, echoing Your name today

Now that's just plain awesome.

Who likes our new header? I sure do.
Beside the point. Anyway, today we tried to write two songs but didn't really get anywhere. It just wasn't our day.
Man I love this month. Every January me, jord, dan, and josh sleep anywhere but our beds. Last year we managed only 3 days in our beds! This year we're going to bust that record. We're all in the caravan tonight. Oops - me beka and jord were going to go on a run but i guess we forgot

Happy New Year (and sum cool photos of us)

Wow its Wow we went on this awesome photoshoot today. It rocked. Best one this year! Haha here's the awesomest of the pictures we took today:

This was some really cool graffiti we found in the subway:

In this one we all jumped but Dan slipped and fell early so it looks like I'm standing on him!

Beka told us to go and sit on these random chairs, so off me and Dan went. She snapped the picture and we went on our way again. It was random as!

Here's Jords with his "hat" on:

And here's me being the man. I can jump high as. Naa i actually jumped off that rock pillar thing. But it still turned out really good aye

nate ps happy new year every1

Goodbye 2008

Oh dear!
I havn't blogged for so long that it is now the new year.
I was going to do one last night but then I had to sort out a few things. Then we watched a movie and it was to late anyway by the time it had finished.
So. I hope everyone had a great 2008.
(That wasn't meant to ryhme, by the way.)
Well so far my new years been awesome.
We went on a mean protoshoot today. It was so funny, we were just laughing hardcore.
And Beka finall found some cool graffiti. It said One then had a picture of a heart.
I was going to take a picture but then some randoms came and we left.
Yesterday was pretty sweet too. Us boys played our last ever band practice for 2008, and we did all our rock songs. We practicly blew the roof off.
Also in the last week my guitar strap broke (cheap junk!) so I had to get another one. Of course there had to be none in the shop, (well, no black ones anyway) so I was a bit annoyed. Then today Mum came up with the smart idea of using the old strap with a new hole in it.
This did make my guitar strap slightly shorter but hey, I saved myself ten bucks.
And what else? I got a mean capo for Christmas; it's about a million times better than Mum's one.
And of course we went camping. Which was pretty fun. Some German lady who was camping there thought my guitar playing was real good. Funny.
(It's a wonder my guitar survived the trip considering Daniel fell on top off it! )
Well anyway I gotta go do band practice now.
The End
