I finally got it!

So excited about this cd!

It's quite a lot different from what I'd expected.....not saying I don't like it, cos I do! It's awesome! It just doesn't sound like Relient K usually do. It's quite refreshingly out of the box. I'm just missing the eleteric guitar =(
Off to study camp 2m!
Pretty excited (even though it means having to spend more money! Gulp!) Na should be good times.

Jordan

an awesome song by an awesome band..

Tick tock hear the clock countdown
Wish the minute hand could be rewound
So much to do and so much I need to say
Will tomorrow be too late
.
Feel the moment slip into the past
Like sand through an hourglass
In the madness I guess I just forget
To do all the things I said
-skillet
.
love these lyrics!!!
good song too...

r.i.p. mumsdollar

mumsdollar are my second - ALMOST first best NZ band...
they have some of the coolest congs EVER....
i've seen them live twice....
they're doing a final tour in december sometime.... i think our youth group's going to one
they are awesome!
apparently their lead singer's going oversea for about a year, and they won't be able to practice....
...so they're splitting up..
nooooooooooooooo!

Direction?

Which way do I go?
Left, right, straight, or backwards?
Actually I'm pretty sure there's more than four directions.
I really need a map or something.
How do I find my way home?
Where is home anyway?
I'm not sure if I make any sense right at the moment.......
Please help.

Waiting for summer.....

Feels like I've been waiting all year.
It's time to stop waiting and wake up.
Winter is over.
And summer is here.

New Song!

Kay I wrote this song about two weeks ago and still haven't figured out if it's going to be one of Mayday's or a new one for Ground Zero! After all it really deserves 2 guitars but William's not into the singing very much- he prefers to jam (on my eleteric guitar preferably!). So I'm not sure. Either way it's a very cool song.

THE BEGINNING AND THE END

Is this the end of it all/ After coming so far/ When we're at the end of the road/ Will we know who we are?

And I hope I know/ This is the best chance I'll ever get/ And I've gotta know/ What would have happened if they hadn't met?

There's gotta be something in between/ There's gotta be something we've not seen/ Is there a chance to start again/ Between the beginning and the end

I'm looking for a second chance/ I doubt I'll find one here/ When we're at the end of the road/ Will it matter who cares

We've made it this far/ I just can't let it go/ Maybe it's more than just the end of the road/ We are so blind/ Won't you help us just see/ This isn't the end, can't we just believe?

Pretty mint, huh?

Not much...

Today we attempted to get some band practice done. Needless to say, it didn't go very well. No comment.
Me and Beka went onto a mean site last night called DAFONT. com where you could get heaps of mean fonts for free. So we're going to look at them later today when she gets back from work. It will be fun!
I've just realized something. It's getting close to Christmas. Pretty scary cos it doesn't feel like the years gone very long. But then again stuff like Parachute and camping feel like AGES ago.
Oh and it's nearing the end of October to which is pretty scary cos that's when Parachute make their decision about the Debut stage artists. As you know we have applied but I'm not sure if we're going to get in.
There I go worrying again! I'm like my dad.
I just need to let go and give it to God.
After all, he already knows.
Anyway, Christmas. One of my favourite times of year. Not only cos I get/give presents, but because of the seasonal feelings. You know, Christmas Carols, trees, the start of summer (or winter if you live in the Northern Hemisphere.)
For a couple of years I've been thinking about writing a Christmas song. Maybe I'll get around to it this year.

What's next?

It's all over!
Our last show was very rocking indeed. I must say, playing on a veranda is pretty fun. Not to mention you can do stellar jumps off it.
Oh and playing a full set is pretty exhausting. We made quite a few mistakes to- for instance dropping my accoustic guitar =( gulp! No good at all. It's pretty dented now, seeing as I dropped it on solid concrete.
It still plays though, which is a relief...
Been learning some Switchfoot on guitar too. Dare you to Move, such a darn awesome song. You gotta love it.
After all that excitement, though, we have no plans to slow down. In fact, I'm thinking of putting out an e.p, and I mean a proper e.p, not some really bad recording like our last e.p. Which by the way, was not the fault of our soundman, it was completely our own. We just were not very much in time back then. Oh, and I had a really, really bad sounding guitar. My new one sounds like a PRS compared to it! (And it looks as good too!)
Kay, so I know no one ever reads this blog anymore, judging by the fact that the last 10 posts have barely any comments on them, but still. We'd like your opinion. If we got out an e.p would you like to buy it? Or at least get your hands on it? What would you like to be on it? What would you like to not be on it? And what about the art work?
Your opinion is valued: trust me.
Keep rocking it.

show 5#

so as you should know we had a show last saturday at the garden expo. the thing was, they thought it would be raining so they didn't set up the stage.
so we set up on one of those random verandas.... haha my drums took up most of the space so dan and jords set up on the concrete below.
we played a full set of twelve songs. here's jords at the start of the show:
what a rockstar.... it was an awesome time... except when his strap fell off in I Wish You Were Here so his guitar dropped. :0 then it fell off his stand :0... here was me going hard. hairflicks all the way! i love them.

aaaand this was dan in our new song "More Than Just Dreaming" which probably went the best.
it started raining around then, too. jords and dan moved back onto the veranda with me and we did our last three songs before packing up.
so yeah we had an awesome time. kinda good they didn't set up the stage though, cause it had no roof, and it ended up raining....
the crowd came and went... we got about forty-fifty people at the start, and at the end a few other sat down to watch too.
we got good feedback, too. random people came and told us it sounded good.
it was quite fun
nate
ps thanks beka for the mint pictures!
pss some other photos look good, too. we might put them onto our header and the individual pictures of us.

Logos

I have been thinking.
I do that quite a lot you know.
We really need a few more pictures of us. The last good one we got was back in July when we were busy with our Problem Solved E.P.
It's terrible. We're not really that busy. Apart from the fact we've got a show tomorrow but yeah.
And I reckon we need a band logo. You know how it is:

How about this: mayday
mayday?
mayday? apparently that's supposed to mean mayday but I somehow doubt it.
MAYDAY?
MAyDAy?
MAYDAY
Mayday?
Mayday?
?
Hmm none of them cut it the same way.
Suggestions anyone? We're open for constructive criticism. Get the comments going!
Jordan
P.s Amping for tomorrow! Bring your moshing shoes! (If there is such a thing!) Na, I doubt we'll get a moshpit but still if you can make it come along and even better bring a friend. Or two. Or three. Or ten... =)

Please be sunny

I have just realized something quite terrible. I barely blog ever these days. Not to say I don't go on the Internet as much just not to blog. In fact I probably go on bebo more - sad, sad, SAD! I really dislike bebo for some reason. I only got one to be friends with one of my mates who lives about 5 hours away from here. (Then he had to delete his one, sooooo.....)
Nate's quite cool about it. He says he should make a t-shirt which says "to cool for bebo" on it. The only reason he'd ever get one is to post comments on Skillet's Bebo.
Ok that's way to much about bebo already.
Ummm what did we get up to today? Tons and tons of band practice, to get ready for tomorrow. 12 songs! It will be epically epic! Took ages to get through them though. Still, we got it sounding mostly good.
Only problem is that lately it's been a little bit rainy, if you know what I mean, and tomorrow we're going to be playing outside, so put two + two together......
We are hoping (and praying) that it will be sunny tomorrow.
We've been wanting to do this for so long now, but now I'm getting a bit worried.
Sufficient to the day is the evil thereof.
I think that's from somewhere in the New Testament. OK, I have a old King James Version, so the language might be a bit confusing. (Personally I find it awesome - and it's great for read aloud bible studies with people who all have NIVs and the like =] haha)
It basically means that one day is enough. You don't need to worry about tomorrow.
Better stop worrying though.
Please, please be sunny.

Concert Review #4!

It's seriously hard to believe it now.
4 shows and it's only October!
At the start of the year we were pretty much a bunch of amutuers with a few good pop-rock songs. Now we've improved tons! It's kind of strange, but I think our sound is even changing. Improving, refining. Whatever you call it. At least I hope so..

Anyway last night we had our fourth show of the year. It was definitely our biggest too - huge stage, huge crowd (well, 150+ =].. not the biggest but hey definitely our largest.) and a rocking set of three songs + an intro which we'd crafted to near perfection through lots of practice. We went early on Saturday to get all our gear set up. If you've read our previous post you'll know how badly Thursday went - and a repeat on the night would be a catosrophe in itself. (If you haven't read our previous post- go do it- now!!!!!! haha!)
So once we'd got it all sounding sweet (I won't bore you with the details) we had some chips for tea and went backstage.
Waiting was the worst part. Anyone whose ever performed on stage will know exactly what I mean. The dressing rooms were packed so we just had to sit out back and listen to all the people filing in. We couldn't actually see how many there was at all. Finally it started. I tuned up while Josh & Kezi did their thing before us. Man they were cute! It was spot on.
Three items later and it was our turn.
We walked on. I plugged into my pedal, checked everything was working, and we started our intro.
It went like a dream (the intro that is), and we cruised on through into Crash this Party which seemed to go ok. Except their was some kind of sound malufunction so I couldn't hear Daniel very well at all. =( But we carried on.
Moonlight Shadows sounded awesome from where I was standing (or rather rocking.) I can only hope it sounded as good out in the crowd as it did from on the stage. I used my distortion pedal to great extent. =)
And my jump even worked. Kind of. Well at least I didn't fall over.
But I have to say More than just Dreaming went the best of all. Even though I forgot half of what I was supposed to say. But still, there's just something about that song. It's not what we did writing it, or even playing it to that many people. It's almost as if the song plays itself, or better yet, God moves through that song. That's what I want to happen every time I start strumming the opening chords.
If you weren't there to hear it, =( bad luck for you, but no worries we're playing again next week at the Garden & Craft Expo so catch us there. If we're lucky, we might even get to play a full set!
Here's some pics from the concert. (Sorry Beka forgot her camera so they aren't the best! Thanks though Mum!)

It was cool to get feedback at the end. Some randoms came up to me and told me they thought we were good. This guy who I thought would be more in favour of the first two rocking ones came and told me he loved the last one best! (See, that's God moving for you!)
Awesome is pretty much all I can say.
The most annoying thing was when you were on stage you kept looking out and trying to connect with the audience but the lights were shining right in your face and you could only see about three people from the front line if you looked really hard. It was kinda annoying. When we came to the audience hall to watch the second half we found out that there was actually WAY more people than we'd thought!
Jordan
P.s Thanks to everyone who came out to see us, or was thinking/praying about us. Your effort is greatly appreciated. No moshing crowd yet, but we're saving that for Parachute. Trust me, if they let us in, it'll be worth the wait.
Blessings in God,
Jaws

Mayday fail.

Even the best bands stuff up sometimes. At least so I'm told.
So last night was our turn to mess up.
We were having a practice for our concert (which is tomorrow) in which a whole lot of talented people are performing, and we were 7th. So after the singer before us left the stage, we rolled on with all our gear. Then it started.................
First of all the sound system got stuffed. We took about 15 minutes (at least!) to get all set up. By then the guy running it wasn't looking to happy so he made us do only one song. =( sadness.
The song went ok except we sped it up a little bit, and the stage was so big I didn't know where to go. On the last note I was supposed to do a jump but the stage was on a downwards slope so when I landed I fell over.
Shame. Shame. Shame.
All in all it was quite dispiriting. Thank goodness Mum didn't video it!
So we're going to go real early on Saturday so we can get all set up without having to take 15 minutes. And we're practicing hard out so I don't stuff up my jump lol. =)
It'll be better tomorrow, trust me.
Hope to see you all there!

Good stuff.

Loving life @ the mo!
Two concerts within the next two weeks. It's sounding good as! we got my ex-guitar teacher round today and he thought it all sounded mean!
And what else? Erm, I bought a effects pedal off trademe for my guitar! Overdrive/distortion! MEAN! If only I actually had a guitar amp! (I play out of a bass one! Kinda embarassing!)
And we finished our movie! We've been filming it for nearly a year now! It's pretty mean. The final scene was pretty dramatic. I died.
Oh and I wrote a cool song the other day, entitled "Ghosts." It's going to be a guitar song, with all of us playing the guitar. Sweet!
Jordan

You got all the right moves!

Digging this song-have been since I first heard it.
ONE REPUBLIC-All the right moves

All the right friends in all the wrong places/ So yeah, we're going down /They've got all the right moves and all the wrong faces/So yeah, we're going down

Just paint the picture of a perfect place/They've got it better than what anyone's told you/They'll be the King of Hearts, and you're the Queen of Spades/And we'll fight for you like we were your soldiers/I know we've got it good/But they've got it made/And the grass is getting greener each day/I know things are looking up/But soon they'll take us down before everybody's knowing our name

They've got all the right friends in all the wrong places/So yeah, we're going down/They've got all the right moves and all the wrong faces/So yeah, we're going down/They said, everybody knows, everybody knows where we're going/Yeah, we're going down/They said, everybody knows, everybody knows where we're going/Yeah, we're going down

Do you think I'm special?Do you think I'm nice?/Am I bright enough to shine in your spaces?/Between the noise you hear/And the sound you like/Are we just sinking in an ocean of faces?/It can be possible that rain can fall/Only when it's over our heads/The sun is shining everyday but it's far away/All the world is dead

It doesn't matter what you see/I know I could never be/Someone that looks like you/It doesn't matter what you say/I know i could never face someone that could sound like you

It's so meanly catchy! Even better than Apoligize! Though that doesn't really seem possible. =)

Parkour.....among other things

Today was real fun. We went with Beka to Palmy and took lots of photos in the studio, and listened to music and went shopping in the plazza and listened to lots of music.....
I'm loving One Republic @ the moment. "Apoligize" is the awesomest one, and "All the Right Moves" is possibly even better. I love it when radios play the songs you want to hear!!!!!!!!!
We got home and did a bit of band practice, and after tea me and Nate went to the park to practice our "parkour" (if you could call it that!). We basicly just jump off the playground and stuff. We aren't really good enough to sneak into town and start vaulting on roofs.....(not that I'm sure we want to!) But we managed to vault this rail on a high band rotunda thing and it was real fun.
Then after we got home they all started watching MONSTERS, INC (you gotta love Pixar films-I can't wait to see UP!) and I went off to my bedroom and wrote a guitar solo. And it actually worked! Usually it just fails miserably aye. But I've learnt something. Sometimes the best solo's are actually the easiest. Take for example the mean guitar at the end of "Fix you" by Coldplay. I like it more than some Joe Satriani songs which are way harder. They just don't have the same feeling to it. I learnt how to play it on guitar the other day and it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO easy! Nate could practically play it! And trust me, he is far from being even competent on the guitar.
So instead of trying to make it complicated I just wrote it. And it worked!
I love it when stuff go right!
Peace, Love, Justice and Music.
