second attempt

Dear bloggers and friends,

I really should apologize! I've been attempting to keep my resolutions about blogging more often and I have been posting a bit more than usual, but most of the posts have been short, slightly boring. I haven't really had my whole heart in the matter, which is quite pathetic. If you commit to something, don't do it half-heatedly! Do it with everything you have in you! Don't give 50% - give your all! As a result, I ended up writing a massive blog for you all, and then accidentally deleted it. :( So I guess now's the time to practice what I've preached by rewriting the whole thing. As much as Facebooks calling me (the darn things FAR to addicting!), I shall attempt to get on with the job.
I've learnt quite a few things this month. About cooking (never lean over a cooking chilli - the smoke stings your eyes like you wouldn't believe!), bike riding (don't go down a mountain bike track with a paper runners bike! - my chain fell off tons of times, and my cable ties holding the box all broke and we had to replace them with some random string we found) and music playing (practice really does make perfect). But probably the most important lesson I've learned was yesterday at Church. We had some intense worship, then a great sermon about faith being the currency we need to have - that those who are in the most poverty are those who lack faith.
Then I had a sort of epiphany moment. I was thinking "I wanna do great things for God!" then my thought instantly changed to "I want to do great things with God!" It reminded me of a scene in one of my favourite books, The Shack (one which finally restored my faith, no pun intended, in Christian fiction), when Mack and Jesus are walking on water across a lake. Mack starts ahead of Jesus for some reason, eager to please, but he finds he starts to sink into the lake. Jesus comes up and pulls him out and offers him an incredible line "I think you'll find it's easier if you do it with me." This scene always plucks my heart strings. No matter how much we worry about what people will think about us, or we think we're "not good enough" to do it, God is more than able to overcome our weaknesses and use us as he will! My all time favourite verse at the moment has been Phillipians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" The emphasis, I think is on the "all" and the "Christ". Nothing is to impossible for us to overcome!
So long for now,

Jordan

this is the year.

this is the year.
this is the year that we get out there.
this is the year that we get our music on the radio and all out there.
this is the year we save people that need to be saved.
this is the year that we do what God has called us to do.
and it starts in 8 days, at Parachute 2011. followed by the release of our ep, This Beautiful Disaster, and then, God willing, the world.

boredom

ok so sorry to disappoint you but my internet fast wasn't actually very exciting at all! i think it's because i spent to much time reading and pining for the 'net instead of actually doing anything much. on thursday we went to splash planet (a water theme park in napier) for the day and that was pretty mean, but apart from that nothing of any great importance happened.
oh well its a tent for me now. and hopefully i can get my act together and DO something tomorrow which is actually awesome!
ahhh there's just something about summer holidays that makes you go all lazy.....

So Tomorrow...

I'm going to do an internet fast for 3 days. This won't help much with my New Years Resoloution but hopefully should do something about my facebook addiction. :) The real world is so much cooler! And afterwards I shall blog more in depth about my exciting adventures! Yay!!!!

Ps. We're trying to plan out our Ep release but so far we're having trouble finding a venue.... if you guys could all pray for us to find one that'd be awesome! Thanks!

NEW!!!

Well here I am continuing with my blogging resolution, and after that title in BIG letters has got you all excited for what will be a most interesting blog, I'll explain what the "new" in "NEW!!!" is(if that makes any sense....)!
So today me and the crew (Nate and Daniel obviously!) headed over to Palmerston North to take pictures with our favourite ever photographer and all round cool sister Beka Hope (check out her blog + amazing work at http://www.imbekahope.blogspot.com). It was super dooper fun - we haven't done a decent photoshoot for ages, and it's time we gave ourselves a couple of new photos to match our couple of new songs, the colourful artwork for our ep, and the all round summer vibe I'm sure you're all feeling (apart from our friends in the USA of course!). So anyway Beka's also doing the design for This Beautiful Disaster Ep and today we took a bunch of pictures which are going to wind their way in their somewhere! It's looking really good, we cannot wait to release this thing (where and how is another matter though.)! Unfortunately the stupid Mac computer started playing up (I personally prefer Microsoft, it works much better and is less complicated!) so we only managed to get one picture onto our keydrive before we had to go, leaving the rest of the artwork to be completed at a later date. But not to worry because it's the best one of all the amazing photos!
Love to you all,
Jordan

Inception!

Love that movie! It is so amazingly original! Seriously, go watch it if you haven't already! Then watch it again! :D
Its got to be the best movie ever! Even though the ending irrates me to no end, but I guess it had to end that way otherwise the audience would be dissatisfied at coming down to reality.....
Anyway, that's it from me!
Night guys,

Jordan
(As you can see, I'm attempting to keep my resolution!!! :D)

Resolution

I don't know about you but New Years resolutions always strike me as bit of a weird thing. Promises that we make to ourselves to do something, to be someone, to make something different this year.... it seems like we always want to change. But then again who doesn't want to be better? If we stopped at were we are would we actually get anywhere? If I stopped writing/learning/listening to new songs would music still be amazing to me? Or would life get boring? Would it be mediocre, lifeless, dull?
I think people make resolutions because they want to change. They want to be better versions of themselves. Humans constantly strive for perfection, even if we never get there. And in many ways a new year is a new start. I think the sign outside the Anglican church in our town sums things up pretty nicely. It goes something like: The year isn't NEW because of a date on a calender, its a new year because you make it new.
Thats my approach to this year. I have made 2 resolutions thus far: 1) Make 2011 an even awesomer year than 2010 in every way possible, and 2) Blog more (I think I'll have trouble keeping this one haha!).
So whats your resolutions for 2011? If you have any at all?
That's a direct question by the way...not a rheotorical one! Please comment and tell us what you're getting up to in '11 - blogging is a two part process (posts and comments!)!
Have a happy new year!

Jordan
