Not much....

Hey hows it going?
Not much has been happening lately really. We're hoping we can find some more shows after BOTB which was just AWESOME! And we've been busy writing our newest song, aptly entitled Crash this Party ! It's quite a bit more dancy than what we'd usually write, but it's sounding real good though. It's quite funny how our music ranges so much, from the good pop-punk tunes of Collision's, Decisions and Other Things and Can't stand to be Sleeping, to the more hard out rock of Moonlight Shadows and Break this Silence, to the more quieter I wish you were here and One to a Hundred. And that's only half of our songs!!!!!
I've been wanting to put more music on our blogs but the only way to do that is post it and that takes like an hour or so anyway. Maybe we should make another blog with just our music on it......

Photo's

Right this post goes out to Beka who takes the best pictures in the world. Practically every picture you will find on our blog is done by her!

We go on crazy photoshoots all the time and have a good laugh. Even if the pics don't turn out so good it's still fun!
Man she's good.......

Random

Randoms: n; a random stranger
Actually I just made that up.....
Randoms are pretty cool actually. You get the coolest randoms at Parachute. People who go round with cardboard signs saying "Free Hugs". Someone had a sign which said "Kiss me I'm Irish" but that was a bit to random for me!!!
Beka managed to make a random friend on Soul Purpose, which she met at Parachute.
It's quite funny if you think about it. If you're lost in a crowd, your surrounded by randoms, but to some random in the crowd YOU are the random and they're normal.
I guess what I'm trying to say here is "There is no randoms here, only friends we haven't met."
It says strangers actully but I replaced it with randoms. Cos it sounds more friendly.

I haven't written this for ages...

Hey sorrry I haven't blogged for sooooooo long! Man I've been busy! Everything just accumulates over time....
Well so far we are in the middle of the year (already!) and it's been quite a rocking year for us!
We've had three shows already, put out a minor ep, and now Dad says we can play at Parachute!!!
YUSS!
Hopefully we get a few more sh0ws this year too.
Pretty gutted we didn't get into the finals today. The other band who got in (not the screamo band, the band facing them) looked real cool, and sound better than us! They're called Without Concious Thought and are all about 15. It would have been pretty sweet to play against them....
Oh well.
Next year.

East to West

But today I feel like I'm just one mistake away
From You leaving me this way
Jesus, can You show me just how far the east is from the west
Cause I can't bear to see the man I've been
Come rising up in me again
In the arms of your mercy I find rest
Cause you know just how far the East is from the West
From one scarred hand to the other

randomness

its funny, you can put random questions on your profile. i asked for one, and it gave me this:
Your hand has been replaced by a rubber stamp. What does it say?
man thats random
it has so many alternitive answers...
i wonder who made them up....
someone random as probably

Battle of the Bands over!

Whoah what a weekend!
We arrived in Wellington at half five, and found the church. The soundcheck was at 6, which went well.
The show started at 7:00. There were three bands counting us. One of them , called Neon Adder went on first. They were heavy metal screamo.... man it was loud. (personally they were quite bad) I didn't hear a single word in the entire two songs!
When that was finally over, the next band, Flamingo Pink came on. They had a pink flamingo on their drumset. Apparently they found it in a garden! Haha awesome. They were real country.
Then we went on!
It was such an epic show! We kicked off with "Moonlight Shadows," which went awesome. Especially in the solo when Dan got them clapping! Jords timed his jump perfectly and we went hardout back into the last chorus. It felt sooo good. It was amazing.
Then we did "Not Forsaken," (Fight for Something that's Worth Everything), which went okay except the opening - Dan got out of time with Jords and me but we covered it up good.
Oh and Catherine came! It was good seeing someone outside the family come. Thanks!
So the judges did their results, and came onstage. They said a couple of negative things about Neon Adder, one or two about Flamingo Pink, and nothing bad about us! :)
The hardest part was waiting for the final decision. Turns out Neon adder won. I reckon they thought we'd have more chances cause we're young - and Neon Adder were all about 20 and didn't have as much chances. But thats okay. And one of the judges said I was a good as drummer! :)
Still, lots of people came up to us and told us how good we were. Pete (the main guy) said it was good having guys so young turning up and playing. And Neon Adder's drummer thought we were amazing.
We stayed the night at a friends house then left today and got back at about 4:30.
Far it was sooooooooooo awesome though. I lovelovelove being onstage!
Beka got some awesome pictures which we'll stick on our blog when we get the chance to.
It was such a mint night!

3 days left!

Man I am stoked!
I didn't think we'd get this far....
Then again, I didn't think we'd be the only band at the heat.
But still. Here's some comments the three judges gave us:
"Not Forsaken (Fight for Something that's worth everything) was beautiful."
"Vocal confidence is pretty epic."
"I was thoroughly entertained and moved."
"Very profound lyrics."
"I loved it man."
Really I don't think we were quite as good as they say, after watching our video of us.
I needed to turn my amp up.
It was such a great show. Real laid-back, not much fancy equipment [save the amp!], and we weren't even on a stage!
It was almost like practicing in our sitting-room......

Unbreakable

God i want to dream again
Take me where I've never been
I want to go there
This time I'm not scared
Now I am unbreakable
Its unmistakable
No one can touch me
Nothing can stop me
.
this is the coolest song. i heard it on the radio ages ago. it was one of those songs i really wanted to find out who did but never really did. today i heard jords playing it... turns out its called "unbreakable" by a band called fireflight. its a real cool song.
today we got and email from battle of the bands saying the show was 13th of June (this saturday) at Wellington TBC (which we think means to be confirmed) starting at 7pm.
so excited about it man

Nervousness is a disease

Hey everyone, guess you heard about our epic win last Thursday! It was pretty cool really, I didn't even mind that we didn't have much competition. And the best thing is we're going up to a gig in Wellington on Saturday! Far I'm stoked, but so nervous.
I need to chill out, man.
Just relax.
The moment you start taking things to seriously is the moment you start fall down.
I don't know why but you always think you should be better than you are.
What happened to being content?
'I'm going to be myself, don't want to be anyone else......'
Sometimes I wish beleiving it was as easy as playing it.

happy music

woah i am soooo looking forward to Saturday night. this is the most best thing i've looking forward to since... um... Parachute! its going to be awesome. if anyone can make it - awesome.
and me and jords concluded that we need to make a really dancy song. you know the type - family force five, basshunter, all that music that makes you want to dance.... we haven't really got any of those songs! we have moonlight shadows but its a completely different type.... yeah so we'll probably be onto that once we're over battle of the bands....
guess what? theres this really cool one-man-band called Owl City. weird name, i agree, but they have this happy as song about balloons and stuff its so happy!
i like happy music

We made it to the Semi-finals!!! :)

Whoah what a night!!!
Very different from what we'd expected.... There were nine spectators... yep nine. They were all teenagers part of there Primal youth church.
Despite the crowd it was a really enjoyable night! We played "Moonlight Shadows," and "Not Forsaken," (Fight for Something That's Worth Everything), which really fitted with what Ellen (the leader) said earlier on about having faith.
So anyway, we got an encore, and played "Collisions, Descions, and Other Things," and "Not Forsaken" again.
They were really impresssed with us and gave us three sheets of feedback, which was good.
BIG NEWS!!!!!!
Since we were the only band in that heat, that means we go into the semi-finals in Wellington next week!
Yussssss....
Its on Saturday night, June 13 sometime, that's all I know. But as soon as we get the actual time we'll place it up.
Yesssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is awesome. It's something I've wanted to do for two and a bit years and now I'm actually doing it!
I love this....

Over thinking

I think too much.
I could also rephrase this as there's too much to think about.
Right now my brain is thinking of our upcoming show, what songs we'll play, what I'm supposed to write next, snow this morning, the fact Daniel's playing on my guitar with his grubby hands, and that I need to write my diary.
See what I mean?
The annoying thing is, one of our songs is too long for this concert. They all have to be below five minutes. And our one is 5:15! I reckon we should cut it down but Daniel gets all frustrated about that kinda thing. =(
Deep sigh.
At least we've got the chance though!
Jordan

shows and snow

oh man i have the cold its sooo horrible...
aside from that, going awesome.
WE ALMOST HAVE ANOTHER SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yessssssss
its in napier, starting at 7:30 THIS THURSDAY!!. yep, almost three days away.
its a contest called battle of the bands, and the finalist plays on the 19th of June.
we haven't applied yet, but have had permission from mum and dad.
the ages are 25 years old and under, quite cool.
so if all goes well, we'll be onstage for ten minutes in front of maybe 300-400 people!!!!
and today it was quite snowy which was awesome... we went on a walk at 9:00 this morning and had heaps of fun. could do with some more, but yeah it was cool.
