my weird dream....

i had a weird dream last night....
these randoms was going to blow up the domain, so me and jords went to some guy's house over the road from it. we were going to tell him to video them doing it with the video cameras hiding on the roof of his house. (!) however, first we climbed onto his house roof (it was like 12 in the night,) and slid down his roof over and over again on a random matress. no idea why.
then the guy ran out of the house and almost shot us with a machine-gun but luckily we told him that the domain was going to blow up.
THEN i woke up.
it was so weird aye... i did so not get it.
dreams really confuse me sometimes.

New Song out!

We finished our new song yesterday! All in one go too! The awesomest thing was we didn't really aim to write it. I just put my capo on and started playing this riff which I'd made up about a month ago. Nate just kicked in with the drums, and then Dan just started singing words he just made up straight from his head. The Holy Spirit was fully moving. We were totally inspired. It was so great! We've never ever written a song like that before!
I'd put the words up but we still haven't even decided the name of the song yet.......
It sounds real good though!

This is who I am:

Hi.
I'd like to introduce myself.
My name is Jordan. I am often called Jords, or Jaws (like the shark.)
I play guitar in this band called Mayday. It's actually a pretty cool band. We've written about 12 or so songs.
I am a Christan. I believe in God. Without him I would be nothing.
I play soccer in a men's team. This is because I homeschool and the High School are stupid and won't let me.
I want to get a job which doesn't involve delivering papers.
The biggest dream of my life is playing live on Mainstage at Parachute.
Miracles do happen.
The second biggest dream of my life is to get one of my books published. I write extensively, and have just finished my piece de resistance, Rapid Descent.
Even though I have all of these ideas bottled inside, just waiting to explode, I keep them quietly locked away and go about my life.
After all, the most important thing is to follow God. His schemes, his plans are what I put my life in. They're better for me. Even though sometimes it's hard to give up control.
Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
I just have to have faith.
I wish I could write this song.

Busy again

Hey everyone!
I've been up to LOTS lately. So much we haven't had much time to practice, let alone write a song! Today I went for a job interview at this cafe. And I really really REALLY wanted a job there so much! Unfortunately all they were offering was a full time job, and I didn't think I was ready to take that step yet. So I didn't get anything. =(
Bit gutted really, but I'm hoping another door opens.
Oh and I need to do heaps of driving practice for getting my restricted! I'm a bit nervous about it......
We also got a letter today from this competion we entered called NickRocks, to say No, we didn't make it into their semi-final. Gutting. And I went and looked at the finalists and no offence but they SUCK! Seriously, who would call a band Dancestars? Sad, sad name! I'm not dissing them totally or anything because that'd just make me a bad loser but seriously they sound like a million other girl pop bands all over the world.
Anyway, onto the good news!
1. I at last have an idea for a song! Unfortunately it's Josh's birthday tomorrow so we probably won't be able to write anything...............
2. We are finally booked out for another show! Man I'm excited about this one! We pretty much get a full set! That'll be..............intresting: we've never played more than 4 songs live before, and we have 12+ to pick from! Na, we'll be sweet. More details up soon.

"the" weekend:

wow what a weekend! me, jords, beka, mum, and about fifteen others from our youth group went up to akitio beach for a Holy Spirit weekend.
it started like this:
we left at 2:00 saturday...
cranked the music up on the way,
and got to akitio beach at 3:00..
we'd rented a kind of house with four rooms of twelve beds, and a hall up top.
there was no reception so mum sent me and jords to find reception by the dairy, so we could send a message for her.... unfortunately, for us, the dairy was quite a way away.
when we eventually got back, we found our rooms. me and jord were in with all the crazy dudes. that counts us i guess...
we went to the beach and mucked around a bit there, then the bell rang. the bell was this real loud bell which we rung to get everyone come. it was pretty cool. (and loud!)
so we had a talk about the Holy Spirit, then did this cool activity when there was a claypot over a candle. the candle represented the Holy Spirit, and so we were supposed to smash the claypot with a hammer, revealing the light. only todd smashed the actual candle, as well as the claypot! :-D
after that we cranked up the music while having tea, then did the next part. after it there was some casting crowns music.. it was really touching.
then i couldn't stop the tears streaming down my face. i could feel the Holy Spirit. it was incredible, and i was just amazed at everything.
everyone was comforting each other... it was awesome...
so after that we headed down to the beach, (by this time it was about half eleven) and made a fire. we toasted marshmallows and biscuits, then sang some songs.
then we went for a walk down the beach and back.
i ended up going to bed at quarter to two in the morning lol.
sort of slept in till quarter to ten the next day... actually i guess it was the same day if you think about it...
so anyway, after breakfast, before our last session we played some songs. jords and grace played on their guitars, and mum and stacey made me play the drums on a massive pot with two greasy forks. haha it wasn't too bad though. everyone was laughing, including me. it made a funny as sound. kind of like a "thuonk" -! haha imagine it. it was crackup.
so then everyone went off to their own space and did a devotion with a letter we all got.
then us crazy guys went for a swim! in august! haha epic...
the water was incredibly cold, so we only stayed in for about twenty minutes.
then it was lunch time.....
after that i basically had to go cause i went back home in beka's car.... which left an hour before everyone elses cause she had work.
it was a great weekend, one of my best ever, actually.

Pretty Exciting News

No we haven't finished our new song (unfortunately we haven't even started yet!) but............we have been just invited to play at our town hall for some Youth Concert thing! Awesome!
Problem is we only get 5 minutes.
How on earth are we supposed to do it in 5 minutes? Some of our songs are longer than that!
Hopefuly I can arrange for more time than that......
Either way it'll be mean.
Oh and me and n8 are going away for the weekend so don't expect any more posts until Sunday night at least......
See ya guys later.

Great News!

Ground Zero is back!
We've been under the radar for so long I almost thought we'd disbanded or something.
But nope! Will's got a new song coming and we might even get to practice one of these days! I can't wait really.
For those who have no idea what I'm on about (like our awesome American fans!) Ground 0 is a side project of Mayday formed by me (guitars), Nate (drums), and our friend William (vocals, accoustic). It was just for a bit of fun mostly, but this was before Nate got his drumkit so it kind of set the standard for our line-up now. We only really wrote half a song about being to serious and Coke or something like that, but it was still loads of fun. I'm really looking forward to starting it up again.
For more info visit William's blog:
http://www.will-i-am-groundzero.blogspot.com/

Oh and I'm really loving My Life Story right now! If only they hadn't broken up......I so wanted to see them at Parachute! I could say the same thing about Search the City.........and I was more gutted about that one!

Jordan

Oh and P.s Mayday is getting a new song to-hopefully we manage to write some tomorrow. It's called Disappearance (With or Without You) .

Guitars of choice

Will posted about this so it got me thinking. If I could get the guitar of my dreams (cost not counted!) what would it be?
Maybe the Vox Guitar Organ: 19 knobs, you can play it like a guitar, or a keyboard, definetly one of the weirdest (and coolest) guitars of the centuary!
Then again I'm not so sure I like it's shape. Maybe something newer like the hot Vox Virage. (Newsboys and Steriogram play these!)
Then again, how could I not choose one of these V-wings? Stellar Kart's ex-guitarist, Cody had a mint black+white one but this one's pretty sweet.
Then there's the Fender Jazzmaster. Such a mean shape, with a weird array of switches and the queerest headstock I've ever seen. I'd fully have one if I played Jazz.
Speaking of playing things, if I was into Metal or Screamo, which I so am not, I would play a Bc Rich Mockingbird. It is truly stunning. Maybe I'll have to get one for some of our rockier songs. You could fully thrash that one out!
So...... I can't buy any of these, but my Aram Custom Dynamicleader is really just the right thing for me at the mo. It looks good, sounds good.................. ok it dosn't have 19 knobs and weird sticking out bits but it suits me down to the ground!

I lost the game.

darn it!
nate

We need to get a cd out!

We've got so many songs sometimes I lose count!
Some of them are album songs to, if you know what i mean. They'd be sweet as fillers on a cd but not so great to play live. And we're trying to write new stuff to!
I would start recording but I'd rather get signed first! =)

Jordan

My best friends the Creator of the Universe

Such a simple line.
I played that song on the guitar yesterday, and it sure brought back some memories.
The Lads:

The first real christian band I heard. Man, do we owe them one! They used to fully be my all-time favourite, even though I only went to see one show of theirs. It was loud, rocking, moshing-all the stuff I love now. Their songs had the awesomest lyrics, distorted guitar, all that.

In fact, if it wasn't for them we wouldn't even have a band. We got inspired by a live dvd of theirs, and started our band. This guy here, Bjorn was half the reason I started guitar-so I could get good enough to play alongside him in the Lads.

Unfortunately that dream along with others of owning a hobbit camp and other stuff like that kind of evaporated over the years. The Lads disappeared into minority after that summer of 2007. Eventually news got out that they were going into kids music (gasp!) That kind of ruined it for me cos I didn't want to be playing for some wiggles-type band. I got a new favourite band (Stellar Kart!) and just kind of moved on.

Only sometimes now I look back and think how it used to be. I still listen to some of the Lads old stuff now which is still great. They really connected with the crowd with their music, and passion for God.

It was everything we wanted to be like.

Jordan

Ps. My Best Friends the Creator of the Universe is a line from a Lads song called Creator, one of my all-time favourites songs.Look up the lyrics, they're mint!

the answer to life, the universe, and everything...

according to the internet, 42 is the answer to the life, the universe, and everything.
how is that possible?
they say that our galaxy weighs three times 10 to the power of 42 kg, a number written as three followed by 42 zeroes.
i wonder who was crazy enough to figure that out
so if someone asked you what the answer to everything was, and you said, "42," then what would they think? probably something along the lines of "how can 42 be the answer to everything? that's just insane." 42 doesn't mean anything. and for once, google is wrong...
the REAL answer to life is simple:
that's it.
there on the sign.
the answer to life, the universe, and everything.
God is the answer to everything.

I really like this band!

They're called A Dream To Late.

Mean name.

I think they're pretty awesome. And their music is sweet to-kind of like a cross between Falling Up and Relient K.

Check out this mean song of theirs: Intermission to the Moon (yet another awesome name!)
Jords

Overthinking

Right-so far I'm pretty excited. We've sent our Parachute Application to play on their Debut stage early next year. I really hope they accept it cos that'd be a big step up for our band. We wouldn't exactly playing in front of 3000+ people (I wish!) but at least we'll have a crowd which moshes (hopefully!).
I'm pretty sure you could mosh to some of our songs. Maybe not headbang, but definitely mosh. =)
And the other reason I'm stoked is because that my guitar teacher showed me how to play the bridge of Overthinking-which is by far the greatest guitar lead I've heard done on an accoustic. It's MEAN! I LOVE IT!
Relient K are pretty much the top of my list of favourite bands at the mo'.
I'm so excited about their new album. Mhmmm and 5 Score and 7 years..... were awesome and I can't wait to get their new one as soon as it comes out in Nz!
I love this song so much.
"Over Thinking"
I was thinking over thinking
Cause there's just too many scenarios
To analayze look in my eyes
Cause you're my dream please come true

I was thinkingover thinking
About exactly how I'm not exactly him
I'll break my heart in two more times than you could ever do
Cos you're my dream please come true

Cos I think way too much
On a one track mind
And you're so out of touch
Cause i'm so far behind
I can't deny this anymore, the facts ignored all done before
And if there's one in this world, you let me know you're not that girl

I was sinking, lower sinking
cause I lost the things I held on to
They let me think a thought a thought that i would know was not
Of seeing my dream come true

I was thinking over thinking
About how far i had let this go
There's nothing left to say, I know now you're just in the way
Of me and my dream come true

Don't touch the positive with the negative end
Don't touch the positive with the negative end
Cause after all of the sparks you're still alone in the dark
Cause after all of the sparks you're left alone in the darkand

While I'm able,I think I'll label experience with you as a mistake
And while I'm at it, I'll say I've had it
Experience with you is a mistake

It's a bit sad, but still. The lyrics are awesome! And the music's even awesomer!

The news so far

Right.
So far in August, we've mostly just been practicing to get up to speed, after all we were a bit rusty after going without an electric guitar for 3 weeks. (this wouldn't be that much of a problem but Nate likes playing the drums loud, and my acoustic isn't a plug in-the results are almost disastrous in several songs =] )
But I reckon we've got it sorted now, so we'll probably start on writing a new song early next week. I reckon we should fix one of our older ones up: One Day, or Cling to the Cross.
Nate isn't to keen on the idea, cause he reckons our old songs aren't that great. But I reckon we need a worship song. And those two are pretty mint-@ least the choruses are, I might need to work on the verses a little bit though.
Oh well. I'm looking forward to it!

Ready to rock.

Me and Nate are itching for a concert!
If you know ANYWHERE where we can play-leave a comment on this post.
Deep sigh. We need a manager or something. =)

Jords

Tonights going to be a good night.....

Or at least so say the Black-Eyed Peas (that songs being going around my head sooooooo much!)
Today was pretty crazy. First me, Nate, and Beka went to the domain to go on a photoshoot. Probably the most insane one we've ever done.
Beka had the craziest idea of painting SOS on my chest, and me standing in the middle of the lake with a flag held up high.
I have now made the conclusion that all photographers have the most crazy inventive minds of anyone.
So Beka painted my chest, which looked a bit dodge but anyway....
Then I hopped in my boat and paddled around for it. I really am getting to big for that little old thing, but it floats better than my raft does so yeah.
Oh the funniest thing happened. These little kids were watching the whole scene (probably the best entertainment they'll see all week) and when I got in my boat they're like "Dad! He's getting in a box!"
Man it cracked me up.
So finally I got the nerve to sink my boat and stood in the middle of the lake with no shirt on, holding this makeshift flag, and standing on my submerged boat (which is aptly named
The Unsinkable). I felt like the craziest guy in the world. (I probably am)
The paint dried on my back and man it felt yuk.
Then we drove to McD's to get my reward. =)
After I'd cleaned all the paint off me we went on another photoshoot to the domain where me and Nate jumped the fence and climbed this mean tree which we'd been wanting to do for ages, while Beka took pictures of herself. Nate stood on this fungus thing growing on the tree and it held him. It was pretty mean.
After that we went home and had tea, then went to Youth Group where I gave a talk about the Bible with random statistics. Do you know 1 Chronicles 25:23 is (according to the internet) the worst verse in the bible. Look it up. It is really boring!
What a mean day.
The only thing wrong with it was I didn't have enough time to play with my beautiful guitar =[

A sneak preview at Crash this Party!!!!!

Here it is!!!!!! Today we got Mum to film a video of us doing Crash This Party. Not a bad recording for our bad little camera lol.

Note: The reason why the guitar doesn't sound so great is cause we weren't really playing. We actually played a cd of us we recorded in early july and pretended to be playing it there. So every time i pretended to hit my cymbal i had to kind of adjust my hand to poke the cymbal with my finger (out of the camera's view) so it wobbled, therefore looking like i'd hit it. Haha ingenious. Anyway, so when we recorded the cd a month or so ago, jords didn't have his new beautiful guitar, he had his old one. Got it?

Another thing: When you click play on the video, it says "Buffering." Hahaha what a funny word. Buffering. Haha random. Anyway, yeah, have a listen, post a comment and say what you think.

Hey guys!

I guess you haven't heard much news from Mayday lately, i.e concerts and all that. Mostly we've had everything on hold after my electric guitar broke. But yesterday I got a new one from a guy who drives taxis. He imports Aram guitars from Korea and they are really nice. The one I got is a cross between an Ibanez and a Cort, with one humbucker and two single coils, making it sound soooooooo good! The colour is beautiful to, as you can see in my previous post. All round it's a great guitar. Only 60 of them were made like that so it's a bit special really.
Yesterday we had our first kinda show since June. It was Mum's 40th and we had a rocking party with lots of loud music and people. It was pretty mean. We did the chicken dance hahaha that was real funny. After pudding we did our band stuff which went real sweet except you couldn't hear Dan's keyboard very well, probably cos my guitar was to loud =) I couldn't help it though. And his keyboard was the only thing which didn't have proper amplification but oh well. We did about 5 songs.
Hope you had a good night Mum!

My new GUITAR!!!!!!

Man it's mean!
God is so good!
Today rocks! It's Mum's 40th and we're crashing her party with our band later.
Oh and I got a new guitar with a humbucker, mean sounds, and it's hot hot hot hot!
Check it out:
