Tommorrow's a new day.

My goodness tommorrow is May-the 5th month of the year already! Man this year's gone fast, it feels like only yesterday it was Parachute.
It's been an awesome year so far, for us as a band. Had a concert, got recorded, wrote two new songs and fixed up another....
Brilliant.
We were also planning to rock out Fuse this year but dosn't look like that's happening-deep sigh.

Jordan

guess what?

i just looked at our profile, and turns out 470 different random people have looked at our blog. it makes me feel famous.

and our cd's going great i think we're done it but the computers out of ink so we can't print it just yet.
aside from that, lifes pretty much normal.
except my phones annoying me. it has lots of broken pixels so ive been looking on trademe for another one. thing is nothings cheap. it sucks.

Problem Solved ep!

Well today I put a few more finishing touches onto our cd case. I'm almost done! I bought a bunch of cds from Whitcolls the other day so we can start pumping out copies soon. This cd is titled Problem Solved ep and consists of 3 0f our songs performed live at Knox Church last month. Turn on the Lights, Fight for something that's worth everything, and I wish you were here.
The ep is called Problem Solved cos we noticed a common thread in all 3 songs about having problems with stuff in life and calling out to God to save us.
I'll see if I can post up a video of one of our songs sometime soon.
Stay tuned.

Today was random

Today has been relativly ok mostly but I've been a bit tired from the soccer game yesterday and a sleepover we had. Though we only stayed up till 1.15 (pretty pathetic) it was pretty fun.
The only problem with today is it's the last day of the holidays and you always get this sense of foreboding on the last day of the holidays cos tommorrow you've got school, and paper-runs, and oridanary life to get onto instead of whacky stuff like sinking boats and making catapults and sleepovers and writing songs and taking pictures.
Actually to be honest I didn't do that much in the holidays, mostly reading but it's fun to have the time to procrastinate.
Though it's kind of a good thing going back to ordinary. Youth Group, bible study, and everything else inbetween.
We managed to do a bit of band practice today but barely. I had to sing-man I suck at that!!!
Nate tried to do it while playing his drums, but he cracked up laughing mid-verse.
And when we went to Palmy the other day I got myself some cds so we can start getting out our ep as soon as we've done the case.

our crazy afternoon

Today was a bit boring, so this afternoon me and Jords fixed up his raft. Then we went down to the domain with our small boat and the raft.
The short story:
We sailed the boats but the raft sunk a bit. Jordan kept sinking. We got wet and eventually went home.
The long Story:
The raft only just floated. It was kinda just sitting on the water. I went on it in the duckpond down the bottom and Jords went on his tiny boat. Then he said: 'Hey nate, why don't we swap boats?!'
I was like, 'Uh..... maybe that's not such a good idea.'
It wasn't.
We both stood up on our boats. Jords stepped forward, so more of his weight went to the front. The front tipped up and water flooded in. A few seconds later his boat was at the bottom of the duckpond, with him still standing in it. Me and Dan sighed.
So I paddled the raft happily to the other side (which was closer), and Dan helped me up.
Then, after a bit of thinking we shoved the raft out to Jords. We held onto the rope, which was tied to it. Jords eventually got on the raft, and that started sinking too.....So then the sunken boat rose up and popped out of the water.. it looked quite funny.. yes, extremely funny.. So he jumped into that, chucked us the rope, and we pulled both boats and him in.
After a bit more paddling, Jords had another "good idea". This time, he thought we should have a race. So off me and him went. He was on the boat and I was on the raft. Then his boat looked a bit too full of water, so Dan told him to come back. He turned.
Bad mistake.
When he turned, he leant his body over.... which leant the boat over..... which made water flood in. A few seconds later, he was in exactly the same position as last time.
We all just stood there for a bit, then me and Dan sighed again.
Only this time it was more annoying, cause Jords was two metres from the other side. However, there were lots of weeds and cutting grass in the way, so we had to do it the long way.
I rowed back to the shore, then we shoved the raft out to Jords as far as we could.
Not far enough tho
Jords half jumped, half swam to the raft.
When he got there, we all cheered.
Only there was a problem.
The boat wasn't coming back up. Jords got back to the bank and we all stood there waiting.
I went out and prodded the bottom to see if I could find it. Once I actually hit it, but then lost it. The water was icy and I eventually gave up.
Dan went out and found it.
After a bit of jostling and shoving, it finally came out.
Then Mum picked us up.
The hot shower I had when I got home was the best thing all day.
It was insanely fun.

Disapointing

Well today was not really the best day of my life.
It was kind of random.
We haven't done much since Josh got knocked unconscious yesterday.
This was kinda our fault. We told him to swing on the soccer goal bar, but it was slippery so he fell off and landed on his back and blacked out.
So now he's not allowed to do anything rough for three weeks.
Anyway today was a bit dispiriting. I did my guitar practice, and some of my book (that was about the best bit!), and we went to the library.
Fun.
We haven't had a band practice for a few days now, but already we've got Under this Sun down. It's dead easy to play and sounds mean-especially my twisted guitar solo which is when I play my guitar weirdly (even more so than the Ember Days who play with a violin bow in some songs! It sounds awesome!). Only problem is when I was doing this the other day it didn't work cos the thing-I-was-using-instead-of-a-pick broke.
Luckily Dan managed to fix it.
I was going to do another attempt at doing a music video of one of our songs before but my stupid laptop is fully not working so I couldn't. ARGGHHH!
I think I'm going stir-crazy here.
I feel like I never want to go back to ok.
Problem is, I'm back there. =(

Music!

At the moment I'm quite liking some of the stuff from Fm Static's new album Dear Diary.... it sounds pretty sweet.
Right now I'm listening to a band who kinda sound like the Ember Days music wise but their singers not quite as good. They're called The Glorious Unseen and they sound pretty good actually. Very acoustic and soft which is a bit weird cos on their myspace it says they're spirit filled post-hardcore worship????!!!!!
That's a hard genre to put in a bubble.
Kind of like us actually. Not the music, but our style. I seriously can't think of a band which sounds like us! There probably is one, but I haven't heard of them yet. The only one which came remotely close was a band called The Israelites who were at Parachute 09. They were only 14 years old! But it was still different-they had a bass player and no keys.
I like being unique!

Smile :)

With my smile I could see
the hope within her eyes
And I knew that something’s different today
Though everything’s the same
Inside there’s something real
A faith which causes me to change
But what’s different now
A spark is gleaming in my eye
Like diamond stars that fill the sky
I think a smile says it all
A smile says it all
-Kutless
i luv this. whenever i'm depressed or angry this song always makes me smile. it has some really awesome words that make you feel happy.

red plastic bags

today we got our panflets to deliver for tuesday but when we opened a box, inside was red plastic bags. i's like whatttttt...... turns out we have to deliver them to all our three hundred mailboxes... so putting bags into mailboxes and stacking them with other panflets is going to be weird.... but it could be fun 2,

The answer??????

42.
It's supposed to be the answer to life, the universe, and everything. At least according to Google.
I don't believe it.
It poses more questions than answers.

Jordan

My life and other exciting stuff.

Today was pretty chocka. So I did what I usually do-procrastinate and drew superheroes.
I like this one........

We spent the morning doing a lot of work and umm drawing superheroes. And I did some guitar practice as well. In the afternoon we did band practice and finally finished our new old song. So now we have 11 songs! Pretty sweet! Only about 8 completly utterly awesome ones though.

It sounds pretty mean too.

Then I did some of my book and the rest of my guitar practice b4 we went out and had a pot-luck tea at Colin's, which was pretty mean.

That was about it.

Jordan

P.s I also made a random music video on the digital camera of I wish you were here. Didn't go so great because the tape ran out before the song did. Also my multimedia presentation on my ancient laptop wasn't the best either. I might pop it up tommorrow though so you can see what you think.

which way??

Sometimes you don't know when to do one thing or the other. i reckon its like there's two paths and you have to pick one. its real hard to choose sometimes though, especially when both ways aren't easy but you have to do one anyway. or if you want to do both but you can't.
Which path would you take?

Exciting news.

Wow exciting news! Everyday Sunday have a new song out! I've been waiting for it for AGES! It's called Best Night of our Lives and it's real awesome.
I can't wait to get their album- Everyday Sunday are ROCKING! They are one of the rare bands who have all good songs. It's not often you find a band like that.
I'm hoping we're like that. Having all good songs that is.
Sometimes it's hard to be certain. But when we started our band we promised ourselves we would not put a single song in our repertoire we didn't like.
And so far we've kept that promise.

Jordan

New stuff

I like new days.
Today we fixed up almost the rest of our song. Nate made a mean drum solo and I did a awesome guitar bit which involved turning my amp up LOUD and whacking the strings with a plastic hammer pen.
Pretty intense.
So that was quite good.
That was pretty much most of what we've done today apart from soccer practice.
The end.

Jordan

Under This Sun

Under This Sun is going awesome as. the chorus goes:
Everone's under this sun
Under this sun
Why don't we
Just try to be
Kinder to everyone
we've put in a four-bar drumroll I made up which sounds really really cool.
and its fun hehe

To book see below---

We would love to play another show.
If you can help us with this leave a comment on our blog.
Jordan
P.s At the moment I am a little bit gutted cos it dosn't look like Fuse is on and I was sooo looking forward to that aye (even though they probably wouldn't have even let our band compete because Daniel's not a teenager. Silly. )

We did it!

Wow today was rocking as! We started off with a mean photoshoot, clambering over structures, eating lollies and playing music from my mp3 speakers! It was epic but I'll wait until I get some pictures before talking about it to much.
Then in the afternoon we did band practice. Daniel was having so much trouble trying to figure it out without playing the tune. Me and Nate were getting rather exasperated with this so I suggested we try another one. After Nate wrote out all the proper chords I had a go with it on my guitar and it sounded real good. The opening was real easy to do as well-I just took one of my many opening-in-the-making's and changed the chords round a bit. We played it all the way up to verse 2 it sounded MEAN!!! We were pretty stoked aye.
The weird thing was we've tried to incubate eletric guitar into that song a million times before and it's never ever ever worked. But this time it did-perfectly! I think I'm getting better at it all........ Freaky thing is I've almost been playing for two years! Makes me sound way better than just one year!
We were planning to do some of our ep case today but that didn't work out sooooo hmmm maybe another day? I spent a bit of time trying to figure out how to get a song on our blog. I had a real awesome idea of putting the words on a screensaver and letting that file along while the song was playing. Turns out my screensaver can't fit that many words in =( I was pretty gutted.
Then we had a awesome youth meeting planning for next term @ the church. Yay yay it's going to be so much fun I can't wait!!!!

P.s the song we fixed up was Under this Sun by the way

Easter weekend

It felt kinda random to me. I spent the day out of it all, like that old song of mine. We spent ages trying to fix up One Step Ahead. We got-absolutly nowhere. Zero steps ahead. Then some friends came around. Mum wanted us to show them our band (we've been doing that a lot lately-argghh I feel like a show-off, but I sooooo want another concert!). So we did I wish you were here. Probably not the best idea cos one of them was the brother of the girl I dedicated the song too. So it got emotional and it was real hard to keep playing. I felt pretty bad afterwards, then they left.
Well today was pretty good we had a random roadtrip to the beach and I drove for a bit-only 13 kms but I was only allowed to drive 60 kmph. There were HEAPS of corners. It was insane!
Then we did random stuff at the beach like walk past dead fish (ugh!), look @ rockpools, discover that the beach actually had a reef, go swimming (it was sooooooo freezing but the waves were way awesome), and make this cool hut out of driftwood which we didn't end up finishing cos we had to go.
So tomorrow we have got to get a move on with our songwriting. I have three songs without music, and a further two which need fixing up "deep sigh" at least it's the holidays.
Goodnight world.

Jordan

Right now....

.......I'm listening to Falling Up out of one of those sudden urges. It is half past ten and Dad is probably going to tell me off very soon for playing raucous music. Oh it's stopped now =( I'll have to click play again.

Jordan

i love beaches.....

yay its the holidays
today it looked sunny so we went to the beach
kinda funny for april
but still we went and the sea was shockingly cold but i still swam in it..... there were awesome waves,
and me and beka found a dead lobster or crayfish it was so gross but it looked like it would be cool in a photo.its not as bad as it sounds....
so we carried it everywhere in a pawa shell to find some green as grass for a picture. kinda crazy but it was still fun.
aaaand on the way home there was a cow in the middle of the road so we had to drive up a real steep driveway to tell the owners that there cow was standing in the middle of the road... it was quite funny

easter

today's easter
me and beka and jord aren't having easter eggs cause they're chocolate. So we decided to be cool and make some easter eggs out of fairtrade chocolate. yesterday we covered marshmallows in melted fairtrade chocolate and froze them sort of. they're pretty tasty.....
hey i just thought what have easter eggs got to do with easter? who made them up? lol its quite confusing.

Crack-up!

today was pretty funny cos our cousins came round and they saw my eletric guitar (which was in the bedroom because the sitting rooms had a bit of a change around) and they're like ohhh can you play your guitar. so i went and got my amp, turned the volume up, and let rip with ummm wake me up when september ends......then they all seemed to think that was awesome as so i played some more stuff. then they wanted to have a go so i let them. next thing you know mum wanted us to show them our band. so off we went-our second practice for the day. they seemed to think that was pretty awesome too.
the crack-up thing about all of this is that it really reminded me off when i was about 14 and i only had my accoustic guitar i hadn't got my eletric yet and i went over to a friends place and they showed me their eletric and i was all over it. just like they were with mine.
it's funny being in reverse positions. and it reminds me of how much we take things for granted. when i didn't have an eletric guitar i thought they were the awesomest thing but now i've got one, it's like ok, whatever. same old same old.
you can't take the moment back.
this is half of the reason i havn't got a arms reach cd yet. as soon as i get their cd and load it onto my mp3, after a few days it will be the norm. been there, done that.
sometimes things are better when you don't have them.
that kinda dosn't make sense.

jordan

ps i'm listening to grey holiday at the moment! awesome

Remember Yesterday?

There once was this band called Grey Holiday.
I was the only one who liked them.
Everyone else in our family thought they sucked, or weren't to great.
So I used to look them up quite a bit. They only had had one ep out-The Glorious Revolution. They first came to my attention through Soul Purpose when I saw their cd review and thought "hey that looks good." So on a random whim I looked them up-and liked them a fair bit. But as I mentioned before that no-one else seemed to like their music much. Had no idea why! Then I watched one of their music videos and Nate didn't like their drumkit-only a bass, one tom, a snare and a high hat. Shoking.
I didn't think it mattered, but then I watched another music video and the guitarist's rocking left much to be desired. Ok I admit it. It sucked. So I went off them for a bit until one day I went back to their myspace only to discover they'd disbanded. NOOOOOOOOO!
Nate was, as always, sympathetic by stating that was shameful.
So then I didn't listen to them for ages and then about half a year later I was looking up some stuff and I say "I know I'll look up Grey Holiday!" and Nate's like "NOOOOOOOOO!" but I looked it up anyway. And I realized I actually like this band.
So the whole point of this random post is that you're allowed to like things other people don't enjoy somuch. Everyone's different. Serious. My friends have heaps different taste in music than me.
Don't try to change cos the world expects you to.

Jords

friday or sunday?!

today really seems like a sunday but its not.
after the good friday service we came home and did....... band practice.
beka, stacey, nicole, aaron, and shaun were going to the beach (crazy) and stopped to say bye and next thing you know we had a moshpit going!
lol it was pretty awesome

Today was strange

This is just a real quick post while I wait for my laptop to turn on. Today was pretty awesome. Our uncle from Auckland was supposed to be coming but his driver has dissapeared. So far they havn't even left the city yet...... so hopefully he manages to get here.
On the band side of things we had an ok-ish practice today. We only did two songs properly. The rest we either stuffed up or got interupted in.
We had to move around the sitting room so Nate's drums are in a different corner, which is kinda 0dd as well.
And I was playing with plugs in so we sounded real quiet. Then I took them out and we sounded real noisy!!!!!
So it's been a rather strange day but turned out better than I thought.
Oh and Daryll taught me some more of Wishs and Dreams by Stellar Kart. Man I love that song!!!
Jords

Zero

today daryl showed me the drums to a song by hawk nelson - its called "zero," its such an awesome song
and today we finally did proper band practice.... except my drums are moved to the other side of the room for a couple of days cause relatives are coming to stay.. it was a bit weird at first but yea
apart from a few interruptions it went pretty well
after tea we went to the mournday service at church. it was a lot different from last year. i really enjoyed it though anyway, (except the parsley and salt water lol)

April so far

April has been significantly uneventful so far.
Man I love big words.
Actually I'm quite looking forward to tomorow. Cos we can finally do band practice! We were going to do it today but then "PING!" my guitar string breaks! So I spend about 1/2 an hour fixing it and then I go to trim the loose ends, and saw a poking out bit on another string so I tried to chop it off then "PING!" I chopped the actual string in half by acciedent! Man I was mad!
So we ended up doing band practice with my accoustic guitar.
Ok I guess.
I wish they'd invent unbreakable strings.
Maybe I should just by a better guitar!
Our ep is coming along-extremely slowly. So far we havn't got further than having the cd, and taking a few pics. We really need to get a move on but I've been sooooooo busy. Luckily the holidays are coming up though so hopefully we can find the time somewhere.
And I've been getting back into writing to which is awesome.

EP!

Far I havn't blogged for so long-it's insane!
Well mostly the only reason I was writing this was to check if the font's working cos it wasn't last post and Nate was getting annoyed.
So the awesome news is we finally got our ep today-big thanks to Jason!
It sounds pretty good-well the last two do-still have a bit of doubts about the first one though but we're working on it and hopefully we can pop up a little ep sampler up on our blog if I actually get the time! At the moment I don't have enough time in my day to practice my guitar for any length of time let alone attempt to get some vids onto the computer.
But still it sounds pretty good aye.
Get ready for it............
Jords

photoshoot

yesterday we went on a photoshoot for our ep which we're working on! jason recorded us at the variety concert, so now we're working on the cover and what not
i can't actually show you the real picture because then it would be spoiled... we have an awesome idea.... and now its edited it is soooo awesome... okay i've said enough. but on thursday we brainstormed for two or three hours. then yesterday we took the picture, and some other random ones:
its jords amp if you're wondering. and this is the subway:i like this one... its pretty awesome,

i like this....

on the way home from waipuk once we saw this awesome as trailer. it was just sitting on the side of the main road. no one seemed to be paying much attention to it so mum got out and took this cool as photo of it with our budget camera whose battery really sucks. that was before beka got her camera - gosh that was over a year ago
anyway.... back to the point... you know how there's always those tui signs and most of them are all about tui.... yes but this one was awesome. it brought God into even bad stuff - just like that...
yeah it was pretty awesome....

april fools

yesterday was april fools. me and jord spiked dad's tea and gave it to mum, then made a normal cup of tea for dad. he thought it was spiked so asked for his normal one. we gave him the normal one, that was actually the spiked one. he smelt it and tippped it out, then thought the normal one was spiked, too. got it?!!
anyway, today was busy as. drum & guitar lessons.... mum, dan, josh, kez and rosie are at gymnastics.....beka is at work.... jords goes to soccer practice in fifteen minutes.... and i have to cook tea.
me and jords and dan are going with beka tomorow to palmy. and we're just going to wander round while beka's at ucol. that shall be fun. today we did band practice. we've been focusing on our older songs this week, cause we haven't done them in a while. aaaaand lastnite at 7-30 we went to the church to see daryl and moala's band practice which was quite good.
that's about it
