Shooting Stars

You came to earth to show the way,
You came to earth to bear the pain
So that if I may call your name,
You love will live in me again

And everything that I've done wrong
And every selfish thing I've done
Will be forgiven by your grace
Knowing one day I'll see your face

You died for me
So that I'd be set free
I'm on my knees,
Jesus rescue me

Your love will always cover,
We're surrounded by your love
You offer us the only hope
-Shooting Stars -
Rescue Me
These guys are awesome.

The story behind the song

There's pretty much a story, or idea behind pretty much every song you will ever listen to.
And so this is the one behind Fight for Something that's worth Everything.
This has undoubtedly been the hardest song I've ever written. And the most satisfying.
I started in 2008, near the end of a very confusing year. Heaps of stuff had happened and lots of tears had been shed. Not only by me, but by certain people I know. And this song is kinda written for them. It's a song about holding onto God, not letting go of what you believe in.
I also wrote it for anyone who ever gets the chance to listen to it. There's so many broken people out there in the world, and they're the one's we as Christians should be trying to reach out to.
So that's pretty much the story. The chorus was so hard to write out, I had this idea of how I wanted it to go, but I couldn't find the right words.
Then one night it just came to me. God pretty much put the words in my head. I flipped on my light, got out my note paper and wrote the first two lines down, and stayed up thinking until I finished the chorus. The next day I screwed up my other version of the chorus and finished of the song.

Letters...

okay... i was lying in bed last night flicking through some songs on my mp3 and i came across "Letters" by Stellar Kart! i haven't heard that song in ages! its a really awesome song... it goes:

Someday soon we'll be together
Where a moment lasts forever
Our love shines brighter than the stars
Until then I will remember
Every word and every letter
The promise that you've written on my heart.....
.....on my heart
and i was like, "gosh, this is the awesomest song EVER!!!"
and it pretty much is...
nate

new song finished!!!!!!

Yessss!!!!! Today we finished that song Fight for Something that's Worth Everything! Its really awesome. We're definitely going to do it at the variety concert now. Just a couple more practices, and we should have it all sweet.

Time confuses me (sometimes)

Right now I am blogging.
Kinda obvious isn't it.
But in about 5 minutes I might not be blogging.
Unless this is a long post.
And when anyone's reading this, Iwon't be writing it at the same time.
I'm also listening to Stop Talking Start Dancing on my $30 mp3 with $70 ipod headphones.
One of them is not working.
It is annoying me.
But it's actually my stupid mp3's fault. The headphone's are fine.
Really.
Time is confusing.

Calling Elijah

I fogot how much I love this band.

Jordan

P.s Disclaimer: This is actually Season Pass but I don't have a picture of Calling Elijah because I havn't been lucky enogh to see them live

Inspired songwriting.

It's all going great at the mo'.
I talked with Gary last night and he said it would be sweet if we played four songs. So right now we're working to get our new song up and running.
We managed to write the chorus today after an unsuccessful attempt at fitting Daniel's violin into it.
I thought that would be a good idea but it didn't work out. That's about our third attempt to get him to play in a song. Maybe it would work better if he made it up instead of me thinking "Man the violin might sound good here!"
So we finally got the music sussed and now all we need to do is the bridge. Writing the chorus was dead easy. We all had pretty much exactly the same idea of how we wanted it to go, and that's how it went.
It was inspired.
Seriously though. Getting this song to work has been Mission Impossible 4. I started it in 2008 and only just finished it this month.
And then me and Nate couldn't figure out how we wanted the intro/verse to work.
Which is just another way of saying we had an argument about it.

But it's all working out now.
One minor thing though. I am seriously wishing Mayday had another guitarist. This song would sound way better if we could have electric and accoustic guitar in.
Unfortunatly I can't play both and Dan couldn't do it because he can't even play F on the guitar yet.
Anyway he's already playing the keyboard.

Fight for something that's worth everything.

Today me and Jords wrote the first two verses of our new song Fight for Something that's Worth Everything. Its going really good so far. Here's the lyrics:

V1
When you don't know where to go
When you think that you're alone
When you're screaming within
And you don't know where to begin

V2
When you think you've lost it all
When you can't survive the fall
When you're searching for truth
The truth is searching for you

Your heart is breaking but
You're holding on tight
You're not forsaken
God is with you tonight
And you're crying out
Jesus, come and save me now

V3
When you don't know where to go
When you think that you're alone
When you're searching for truth
God is searching for you

V4
And I know that you'll be right
I know you're not alone tonight
And you will make it through
Because he's holding on to you

And your fears fade away
In His saving grace
You see through the darkness
In the light of day

So if we have that ready in time, we might even perform it at the variety concert instead of Collisions, Decisions, and Other Things.
so yea its going pretty well so far

Search the City

Well there's this awesome as band called Search the City. They have this awesome new cd out that I got at Parachute. Its called A Fire so big the Heavens can see it, and its a really good cd. Like, every single song on it is cool! Anyway, there's this awesome song that I really love on it called To the Moon for all I Care. It goes

I love the way I said goodbye
This is my exit and your time to shine
So let me go, stop the search cause I've found what I'm looking for
Its the awesomest song.
nate
ps thanks for all the mint feedback every1

Some info

Right here's the details.
We're playing at the Variety Concert at Knox Church on Sunday the 29th of March. It starts at 2.00 pm, but I'm not sure when we'll be playing at the moment, but I'll get back to you when it's a tad closer to the date and I know a bit more. So anyway, we'll be playing about 3-4 songs depending on how much time we get. So make sure you're there!
Thanks,

Jords

Our run in the rain... and a savage lost dog that Jordan thought was a wild boar.

Well, yesterday it was raining a lot. It is today, as well, actually. After tea me, Beka, Jords and Dan went for a run as we do. In the rain! It was epic. Whenever there was a big puddle, we'd all run up in sync, then jump in and make a big splash. And get wet. So we took a shortcut and went up the railway bridge. We ran up, then down then up. It was pretty tiring. At the top, we saw this scary wild boar on the train tracks. Actually it was a brown dog snooping around, but all the same, it was alive. Not that that really makes sense, but....
So we headed up past the High school. The rain had kind of turned into small drops, but it picked up, so we decided to head home. Back down from the railroad bridge, a red car slowed down at the sight of us. We thought it was some random stalking us, but turns out it was a woman. She round down her window, and yells out to us,
"On your travels, by any chance, have you seen a brown dog wandering around?"
So we say,
"Yeah, we saw a brown dog on the railroad tracks."
And she replied,
"....."..er.. was it alive?
And we're like,
"Yeah... it was alive. "
So she roars off, parks her car, comes out in a raincoat, and starts running up the steps of the railroad bridge. We cracked up and sort of lost it laughing, (quietly).
So then it REALLY started pelting down. We ran in the rain, which was fun. And then we basically got home.

An epic as photoshoot

Well, we had this epic as photoshoot today at 2:00. First we took some pictures across the road in that cool field which caught our eye. Jord's found an old bottle randomly.
Aaand I brought a tape measure as a prop. Dan brought a huge yellow plastic gun which shoots twenty rubber darts, and Jords brought some weights. And that's my awesome cowboy hat I got at Parachute on my head. Its the coolest hat ever. As in ever.
Then we stopped at a cool bench which you can't really see but the picture turned out good anyway:
Then we found this cool blue concrete wall and took this epic as photo there. It's such a cool photo, we'd put it as our new header but its vertical, not horizontal. Anyway, this photo's awesome. And this is me with my awesome hat on. Don't ask why I look angry. Maybe I was just posing. I can't remember. Pretty nice background thoughThen we stopped at this carpark with a wall by. I'm standing on the pavement and leaning on the concrete above, if you get it.
Daniel shot a parked car with two of his darts cause he didn't like it. We were like "Dan don't!" So we confiscated his gun and Beka had to hold it.
So after that I took a couple of pictures of Beka with the gun cause she wanted to. Then we went to the back of the town hall and took some pictures at the white wall round there which was pretty awesome. This one might be our new header.Dan was all smiles cause he got his gun back.
And here was Jords showing off his muscles when I pulled out my tape measure and decided to measure them. That was when Jords cracked up....Pretty epic, aye?

Beka, you're an awesome photographer.

The mobility scooter crash

Yeah, I agree with you there, Jords. Our blog is getting a bit boring. Maybe we're losing our ability to write! Or maybe exciting things could not be happening as much as they use too. The world must be changing.
Okay enough of that now.
Today something epic happened.
Beka was at work when an old lady on a mobility scooter came into the New World carpark, and accidently crashed into the supermarket. The window broke.
Now on Beka's break, she texted Mum, and when we heard it, it sounded quite dramatic. We were all thinking of an old lady zooming into the carpark, a determined look on her face. She was going too fast, and went careering into the window. Meanwhile, all the checkout people and their customers would be chatting away happily, just like any other day, when a scooter hits the window. The THUD causes everyone to freeze. Then the whole glass window shatters and the old lady goes flipping off the scooter, amidst the debris of broken glass.
She lands with a thud.
3 seconds of silence
All eyes are fixed on the scene. Then everything happens at once.
Everyone goes to help the lady up. There is a siren in the distance. Someone calls the ambulance. Workers find bags and shovels and plastic gloves to clean up the mess.
The ambulance arrives.
Thats what we all thought it would of been like. So, we drove down to have a look. The whole window hadn't shattered, only cracked. Near the bottom there was the occasional big whole. Not big enough for a person to fit through, but big enough to see through, altough it was right at the bottom. And the old lady wouldn't of flipped inside the shop. We saw a red mobility scooter nearby, parked PROPERLY. That was most likely the scooter that hit the window.
Epic, aye?!

Hmm

Not the greatest first header for our blog, but what can I say? Time to stop thinking about doing stuff and start actually doing it!
I'll get back to you when it happens.

Jordan

Our blog is extremly boring

I've come to the conclusion that our blog is getting more and more boring and seems to revolve around one thing, whether we do band practice or not.
We are a very low-key band at the moment.
So. Sorry our blog is so boring. Please don't give up on it just give some suggestions.
Thanks

Jords

Sort of o.k-ish

Well yet another day in the life of me. Woke up-rather early for me actually, wrote my diary (still havn't finished Parachute!), did school, then some guitar practice after lunch.
Went shopping, and I drove. Came home, read books, had tea, watched Stargate.
And that's pretty much the end.
Don't ask me why anyone would even bother reading all that. I didn't have a super day, or a sucky day. Just an O.K-ish day.
At least it wasn't as hot as yesterday.
Hopefully we get around to doing some practice tomorrow if Daniel's foot's feeling better.
We still havn't found out if we're actually performing in that concert yet but hopefully I can find out this Friday. I don't even know who's running it at the moment!
Anyway one thing of note did happen today. There's a big forest fire in Australia (150 people have died so far) so if everyone reading this could just pray for there to be a change in weather and that the fire would be put out by rain and that nobody else would lose their lives.
Also there's a floud in some part of Australia near where my Nan lives. That is soooooooo unreal. A terrible flood and a even worse fire all in the same country.

Jordan

mondays drag on...

Well we didn't get up to much today, as Daniel's foot's all swollen from a bee-sting he got. Which sorta sucks. I love Monday nights. Monday's always drag on.... the first day of school... the paper-run... shopping... it makes you feel good when its all over!

New song on its way

Wow today was sooooo hot - around 35 degrees. Just the temperature that makes you just want to leap into icy water. We did, actually. Not that it was icy, but it was cold water. We went to the high school pools for an hour with the Dempsters and the MacKays. It hit the spot, majorally.
And Jords has written the words down for a new song that is real cool. Hopefully we'll be putting the music into it before the Variety Concert - and Church Camp.

Time for a new song

I'm working on it. Or actually-I'm not really. I've been too darn busy.
And at any rate we've been working on thesongs we might be playing for the concert. Which I don't even know we'll be playing at. Hopefully I can find out tommorrow.
Not really good excuse's. I'll just have to find the time to finish the one's I've started.

Jordan

Time for a new look

I've decided we need a new photo.
We were going to do one yesterday but Beka was to busy.
She's always to busy.
I think I will have to sit my restricted in the tank because I have only driven the car about 3 times. The thought does not embrew me with confidence.
Today was pretty epic. We finally got around to practicing soccer, because I've got a game in a week's time. Frankly I have to say I'm a tad out of shape.
Then William came over and we made another one of our great movies. This one is going to be our longest one, and we havn't managed to stuff it up yet. Me and William are going to be the badguys and wear cowboy masks through almost the entire movie.
It will be awesome.
So we didn't exactly have time for band practice.
Hopefully tommorrow.

That's what I always say when I don't get something done.

So yes.
Luckily it's Waitangi Day today so there's no school.
Awesome.
Alright. Gotta go do stuff now cos I've been writing my epic blog about PO9 for ages now.

Our next concert

Wow what a day. Me Jord and Dan have been preparing for a variety concert at our church at the end of March that we're going to go in. Its going to be pretty epic. And we've started school - the usual. I won't go on too much about that so have no fear.
And another thing, I think I'm back in shape! 8-) The last two times I went running I got like massive chest pains which was a tad annoying. But today I ran and.... nothing! Yessss!!!! So its all good.

Camping......

It was just like other times. The river was awesome, and it turns out the camera on my phone isn't too bad either....That was at Vinegar Hill. This was the cool as sunrise at Anzac Park, also from my phone:

I love holidays, nate

Parachute was epic

Right this is probably going to take me all night so I might as well start now.
Parachute was so amazingly epic that I'm still having trouble finishing my diary, not to mention my blog. But hey lots of people say a picture tells a thousand words so if I put up some pics that'll save me writing as much.
This is on the way up. In the coolest bus called Wayne. It was awesome. We left at 4:30 in the morning, and I didn't sleep at all. Sleep was impossible. Unless you happened to be one of those people who can sleep at the drop of a hat. So after a extremely weird breakfast at Bp in Taupo we kept travelling until we got to Mystery Creek and I thought there wouldbe a big line but their actually wasn't.We hopped out and got our tickets. Then we set up camp right next to some portaloos which isn't the best place to camp if someone decides to topple them one by one (which I actually heard people talking about doing but I'm pretty sure they didn't). Then I went wandering round the village with Jason and some other people whom which Jason was giving the whole Grand Tour. Which I didn't really need cos I went last year, but seeing as my brothers had completely ditched me I decided to take the grand tour. This is one of those funny things which you stick your heads in and it was of Kingston who are a really cool band. It was right outside the Mana store and that big red circle above it is the paintball place. Anyway the bands didn't start playing till 5:00 anyway so we had heaps of free time to do stuff. The first band playing was called Addison and there is only two words to describe them. They. Sucked. We went in and then pretty much walked out again. Next band I went to see were a lot better. They were called All the big Names, did covers, and dressed up in Ninja suits for absolutely no apparent reason. They did The Final Countdown and a few rocked up church songs like Ancient of Days.
Right, so after the Ninjas I went to Mainstage to see a band I absolutely love, they're probably about my favouritist kiwi band and they're called Arm's Reach.
They won the Wildcard competition to play on Mainstage and they rocked it hard out. I was moshing even though it's pretty hard to do carrying jandals and a waterbottle.
They did my favourite song Stars and Satellites, as well as their mean new ones Tired Eyes, Soft Light, Stop Talking: Start Dancing, and Grinding Teeth which is another one I knew.
It was soooooooooooooo cool!
After them was Late 80's Mercedes which were ok.
Then there was Mumsdollar. They were pretty good, did heaps of songs I knew but for some reason I didn't enjoy their performance as much as I liked their concert with The Ember Days at Hastings.
Then Rapture Ruckus was on. He was AMAZING! I'm not really into rap but anyone who doesn't like Rapture Ruckus' rap is pretty silly.
He did two really cool new songs called Catch me Riding and Hold On. The last one was so awesome it almost made me cry.
The thing about his show was even if you didn't like his music you had to admire his stage presence. He had the entire crowd behind him and the set itself was awesome. There were lights going everywhere and even fireworks!
That was pretty much the last show I saw on Friday. I saw a bit of Family Force 5 at the Palladium and a bit of Luke Thompson but I was so tired that I decided to hit the hay.

The next day was even awesomer. We went to the Morning meeting and practically melted in the heat while listening to Parachute Band and Brian Houston. Parachute Band did Come to the River and Living Rain from their new cd.After that I quickly headed back to the ditch to avoid dying from the heat.
The ditch is our mint shady spot at Parachute but it's location is top secret. We cannot afford having some other punters nick it next year otherwise we will die.
So I went to see heeeaaapppsss of random bands after that.
The first was a guy called Edwin Derricut. He was ok. He got a guy called Steve to come up on stage and help him with the song. Now this concluded of giving a triangle a 'ting' at the end of the guitar bit. It was real funny. This is the Kiwiana party which was at the Palliadium, and I was up in the stands so I got a mean picture. It was a cricket battle: Family Force 5+ Kutless vs some Punters. And the American side kept cheating. It was hilarious.
After them I went to see Season Pass. They were awesome! They had The Ember Days drummer and Mumsdollar's bass player, as well as 3 other guys.
Then I went to see a random band called Solidify mostly because I liked the name. But on Friday Kerry told me that was his cousin's band so everyone had to come and see them. They were surprisingly good actually. There was just their cousin and and some other random guitarist.
Oh and I won a can of sprite for having the dirtiest feet. It was real funny!
Then I went to see Magnify only to leave after the first two songs to see a band buzz txtd me about. But I ended up going to the wrong stage so after I finally got to the proper stage then ran back I ended up missing most of the Magnify concert. Oh well.
Then the next band I got to see was Kingston on Mainstage. They were pretty good, especially their songs Good, good feeling and I'll see the world. That was rocking.
After them was Nathan King but I missed most of that concert too because I ran up a hill to say bye to Mum and by the time I got back down it was all over.
So I purposfully missed out seeing All Left Out cos their singer sucks. We got back just in time for the Family Force 5 concert which was real awesome. They had funny costumes and did insane things like crowd surfing and jumping on drums. Nate obviously didn't think the last one was that funny.
Then it was Kutless. They fully rocked Mainstage down. I was abot three lines from the front, and moshed like crazy. I almost got shoved into a death circle too but luckily managed to escape.
It was awesome. They did heaps of songs I knew but the best one had to be their first one: To know that you're alive. They started with their instrumental Sleeping City then came on. It was an awesome way to start the show.
Then we went to see the Ember Days at Palladium. They were awesome, especially their last song, Seven which had Mumsdollar in screaming. It was real cool.
The next day, Sunday, was probably the best. First up was the morning meeting and their was communion, which was real cool.
The next band I got to see was Shooting Stars. They were real cool. It was just two guys from Mumsdollar playing acousitic guitars. The lead singer did this mean trick called the 'suger shaker' which involved shaking a coffee cup which was filled with packets of suger.
After them I went to see Rapture Ruckus' last show at a stage called Massive and it was pretty much packed but it was an awesome show.
Then Nate found out he'd lost his phone. Turns out it was in his tent.
But before finding that last bit out we went to see Kingston and Arms Reach again and they were epic. Even better than at Mainstage. Cos Arms Reach did a song of their's which I love but they hadn't done it at Mainstage.
After Nate found his phone we went to Nanette's birthday party at the ditch. It was epic.
Then we went to see a bit more of Kutless before going to Mainstage to watch the Ember Days.
You wouldn't believe who I met there.
It was my old mate Jacob who used to live in Dannevirke. Turns out he was at Parachute with his Youth Group. It was epic. So I got his phone number off him and we carried on.
After the Ember Days (who were real good) was Magnify. I was going to see Avaline instead of them but seeing as I missed most of their last concert I decided against it.
Magnify were awesome. Especially Blown Away with Rapture Ruckus.
The next band I saw was Smalltown Heriocs. Me, Nate and Jacob moshed hardout to them. Their guitarist, Stefan was AWESOME! He did the most epic guitar spin. The reason it was epic was his guitar strap broke halfway and his guitar went flying! So he had to patch it up with heaps of tape. It was so funny!
They did Distance which is the meanest song.
Afterwards we got to meet them and Beka got their guitar picks.
Then we saw David Crowder Band. They did a hoedown with a banjo. It was epic as.
After that was Casting Crowns. They were so awesome! Definitly the best worship band I've ever seen. Mark Hall is such a good singer! They did practicaly all the songs I know. But then we do have all their cd's excpet for the latest one.
After that awesome concert in which I utterly lost what little voice I had left, me and Jacob wandered round the village a bit and got hugged by some randoms. It was quite entertaining. Their were heaps of people doing random stuff like brakdancing and drumming on rubbish bins.
Then I decided to go to bed and I just crashed.

Monday was cool too, even though it was our last day. First the morning meeting with Parachute band and Joe Pringle: Then there was this mean speaker called Chris Hill. He killed Barbie and Ken. That gives him instant hero status lol. After that I went and got prayed for by this cool securityu guard called Chris. Then I went to say bye to Jacob who was leaving in the middle of Casting Crowns. Then I managed to get all the way to the front and got some mean as pictures of them.
This was Mark Hall he was so cool. He kept preaching. It was awesome. They probably talked more than singing but nobody minded. They were stunning. Really. I can't really think of anybody who would not have liked that show.
After them I went back to the tents and we took them all down. Then we went into the village to get lunch. I had a pizza and got some stuff for Mum.
Then the bus trip home. It was epic. I was right in the back and we were actually moshing on a bus. It was so funny.
Then we played corners and I got so squashed.
We stopped in Napier for Pizza Hutt and Nanette introduced us to the game of mine. In which, answering a question with the word 'mine' makes you have to do 10 pressups. This is only allowed to happen if the person who's in the game asks you that question.

This is Beka doing very bad pushups on the bus. She was one of about 4 people I managed to trick. Mwhaha.
After that we rolled on back to Dannevirke. It was an awesome end to an awesome weekend and there's one thing I know:
I am sooooooooo going next year!
Jordan

Pictures from P09

Wow. So I've uploaded the pictures from Parachute 09 off my phone. Here's the best of them:
Mark, Casting Crowns, Monday
This was a cool mountain on the way up there

This was a really funny cricket game they had on Saturday, with Kutless and Family Force 5! It was real funny

Josiah from Smalltown Heroics There were these funny as face holes of Kingston in the town. And if you're wondering why the guitarist's head looks weird, its cause Dan's face is in it! This is Parachute Band and Joe Pringle:

These two are Magnify,

And this is Family Force! Not that great a picture, but this is Kutless:
Aaaaand this is Rapture Ruckus!
Casting Crowns againand yet again..... Shooting Stars were awesome as...Arms Reach.... .......and the Ember Days ....and Casting Crowns again Turned out better than I thought as I was looking for Jords! And this is not even a quarter of the people there:So yeah, it was really awesome,
