today...

we finished our new song "speechless!"
lyrics go like this...

Speechless

V1 I wish I could get these words out
But they all seem so wrong
Maybe I'll say it anyway
And they'll understand what's going on

PC 1 And I don't know what to say
Has it always been this way
Cause I can't write this verse
And suddenly, so suddenly, I'm lost for words

C Because it makes me speechless
When I see this
So will you open my mouth
And let the words flow out
Cause I've wanted to say this
But I don't know how
But they need to hear it
So I'll say it loud

V2 I don't know if I'll ever say it
This world is bringing me down
But you're whispering to me
Time for you to make a sound

PC 2 My tounge is tied in knots
Will this ever stop?
Cause I can't write this verse
So suddenly so suddenly I'm lost for words

Bridge:
Can I break free
From my sense of apathy
Cause its time to change
So I'll start today

And I won't wait
I'll say it now
I won't stay silent
But I'll say it loud

so yea its sounding really good.
we also have another song called "fallen pieces" almost finished.
we're pretty keen for some shows..
anyone know any gigs we could go to?

Hummm...

there just seems to be not enough time to do everything...
anyone got that feeling?
we were planning on finishing speechless today but nope we went on a photoshoot instead. i guess that's better than doing nothing and we need a new pic anyway.
the latest news here is our sister beka is moving to the big (0r biggish) city so we will not be able to do as many fun stuff anymore. it is sad. we will miss you greatly beka, you are just to awesome! oh well at least we can try to play lots of shows in said city and then we can crash at her flat mwhaha. i have also named said flat "fejoia flat" because of the absence of a fejoia tree.
i'm just awesome like that.
also there is a show up in Auckland we've been invited to play at. however it dosn't look to likely at the moment but we really want to go cos it looks like an awesome outreach place. it looks great though so we fully support it and you should too! who knows, you might just find us playing a set there (God willing).

we were also invited to a combined youth service in auckland but have sadly turned it down for various reasons like the trip etc...

storm the heights...

i ran through mud.
i ran through rivers.
i jumped down 2m cliffs.
i sprinted through prickles.
i got soaking wet.
i captured the flag and ran almost a km then accidently gave it to the wrong person.
i back-flipped off a mini cliff.
i almost chucked someone in a big hole.
i got mauled by a few people.
i ran up and down hills for 2 hours.
i got wasted.
i woke up this morning with red prickle spots all down my legs
and also 5 splinters.
it was AWESOME!!!!!

Update.

Well hello everyone.
Someone asked me the other day what we're what going to do bandwise now. Cos we've played at Parachute now...one of my biggest dreams of all time... but this guy said "what now? what more are you aiming for?"
Good question.
We've had a little bit of a sitback period. Played some of our old songs (we were practicing the same 5 songs for about 6 weeks!).
But now it's time to come back into the play.
We have some pretty big news to break.
First of all, we're going to be releasing two songs by the end of the month. The names of these are Speechless, and Falling Pieces. Both are sounding really good at the moment, if a little unpolished, but we'll get there...
Next of all we have a rather tenious plan of recording a e.p (a proper one, for all those fans out there...) with the help of Daryll and Moala (of Mana3, The Dc and various other bands fame) but this is pretty up in the air at the moment.
Finally, we want to restart gigging again. We got 7 or so shows last year but this year we want to at least double that!
So if you have any idea of where we could play....
(Sorry to all our fans in America, we'd love to play in the USA but we really don't have the finances as of yet. =( maybe in the future sometime)
Love to all,

Jordan

news..

life is good..life is good...
bandwise, we've been writing a song. we have another one coming, too. should be both done by late february/early march... jords will explain more about that though...
also we're looking to putting an ep out maybe april/may...
its starting to finally feel a bit like summer! it was raining when i woke up and since like 9 its been sooo hot! we've been swimming quite a bit too. :)
storm the heights at youth tomorow!!! really looking forward to that...
its church camp in a couple of weeks... i'm really looking forward to that also..
so yeah :)

If there's one thing I've learnt from this...

Man that was the easiest blog I've ever written...
Never thought writing about Parachute would be easier. :)
Man I am in the funniest mood....
Anyone seen the Muppets?
Real old-school but pretty awesome.
Tommorrow we're going to write a song.
What are you going to do?
That is one of the most loaded sentences ever I reckon.
Tommorrow is what you make it. Yesterday is what already happened. But today is the only thing thing which you can change.
The real question is: if this was the last day you had to live, what would you do?
I know so many bands/people have overused the phrase "live like we're dying" to the point of cliche-ness, & while we all try to do it, we actually wouldn't do it unless we physically knew we had cancer or some other life-threatening diesese.
What would you do?
Would you say "I love you" to your Mum?
Would you breakdown?
Would you go visit all your friends and tell them how much they mean to you?
Would you pray to God for the first time in years?
What are you going to do? Not tomorrow. Not yesterday. But TODAY.
I don't know who most of you are, or how you found our blog. But I love you all. And here's my mission for the day. It's only impossible if no-one joins the fight.
We can change the world.
Let's start today.
We're trying to change the world through music. What's your facet?

Jordan

How do I say it? Hmmm PARACHUTE....

.....WAS AWESOME!

back to normal life now...

...and since its back to normal life, back to normal band practice... it felt a bit weird playing our songs and stopping in between and stuff aye...
oh and the other day in practice i changed my drums around!! i removed the mid-tom and put the ride cymbal + stand in its place.. then i got the crash cymbal stand and shortened it then put it and the crash symbal to the right of the ride.
that probably didn't make much sense but i had mean fun playing on it... when i get older and richer (hopefully) :) i'm going to get a kit set up like that...
thats about it
nate

i found parachute 2010's photo gallery...

and i found this picture!!!
at the end of one of switchfoot's songs, the crowd started throwing glowsticks towards the stage. it was soooo pretty...
i couldn't resist a few others...rapture ruckus' drums solo....

sooo cool....

Big Catchup

Hey everyone!
Long time no see..
Distance is a cruel disease
Seems You've left me here to waste away.

Sorry I'm in a habit of randomly breaking into random song at the mo.
Probably cos of Parachute.
Best weekend of my life - EVER!
I really wish I could blog about it to all you lovely people, but it's getting a little late to to write an epic 2 hour blog.
Maybe tomorrow.
Also Nate's been stealing the computer all day to.
Sufficent enough to say that pretty much every band I saw was AWESOME and played really well. I also found quite a few new favourites - The Smart, All Left Out, Lydia Cole, Willet, Triggor Theory...
If you haven't heard any of these awesome guys...look them up!
Oh yeah and we were pretty good too. =)
We gained an awesome amount of experience & inspiration from Parachute '10. In fact, the day after I wrote a sweet as accoustic song inspired by the great accoustic artists I saw.
Man I'm looking forward to this year!
Goodnight to all,

Jordan

Parachute 2010

i'll just say that there's probably nowhere in the entire world that i'd rather be than at parachute....
there's something so awesome about it it that i can't explain...
...every year gets better and better...
..and this year is by far the best...
it started off mith me, jords, dan, beka, and mum, walked to the church at 5 in the morning. i can't say i slept from 1-4 cause that'd be lying. so from there we took the bus up to hamilton... it took like seven hours but was sooo worth the wait...
when we got there, when we saw everything, it was sooo amazing. i can't believe how much i'd missed it all...
so after an afternoon of transporting gear, putting up tents, icy slushies, sunscreen, and gourmett shuttle chips, the bands finally kicked off...
me and jaws went to see an american band called manafest at deluxe. we figured coming all the way from america to play on the 3rd smallest stage for half an hour was pretty big, so yeah
he was a rapper, and he was really good! a new favourite most defintly...
after that mainstage opened. some random bands played... this was the smart:
at 8:25 all left out, an nz band played. they weren't too bad...
the fun started when rapture ruckus came on at 9:20pm.
when the lights turned on, the whole band was suddenly there, in awesome poses. they froze for like a minute, then started.
i was deep in the mosh pit with beka, jords, kerry, and chris. it was so cramped you almost couldn't breathe. seriously, you were like locked together.
so rapture ruckus started with their new song "tonight".
there was like 15,000 people jumping. and where we were, if you didn't jump, you'd get jumped on.
ten seconds into the song, everyone was seperated. i found kerry somehow though...
i was almost crushed, so somehow managed to get out of the mosh pit to where i could breathe...
i went to the stands back to where mum and the youth leaders were.
rapture ruckus were wild! they put on an awesome show. they did rockin' and all things new which is an awesome song. all we got was one of their new songs they did, too.
i believe was one of their best...

the words flashed on the screen when he sung them... it was awesome
there last song "hold on" was so amazing. i'd forgotten how much i loved that song. maybe my favourite song of all time! it rocks...
the crowd chanted encore, and rapture ruckus played no matter what. it had fireworks in!!! it was cool as..
after rapture ruckus, falling up came on.
i felt really sorry for them. they've completly lost it. they put on a pretty bad show. there were parts in some particular songs like searchlights and streams of woe that were good, but they didn't have much energy... :(
so i went to bed at like twelve... me & william (my mate), mitchell, & daniel were all in the same tent.. we talked till like almost two..

saturday:

woke up, got my money for the day etc.. etc...
the morning meeting at 9:30am was really good. i wanted to stay for longer, but we had to be at the artist breifing...
leeland joined parachute band in worship...
our show was the best half hour of my life... we played on this stage:
we got backstage artist passes!!! man it felt cool carrying them around... :)
jords before the show and dan in background...
i'll just say it was mean...
no pics atm but will put some up soon...
man... our youth group were soooo supportive!!! they were frontline, moshing hard. they rock man...
can't stand to be sleeping was our first song... it was awesome...
not forsaken was next, also awesome...
i can't say much about crash this party except that it rocked! it was sooo dancy and everyone caught onto it fast... we went hardout...
moonlight shadows was good.. jords did a jump off the drum stage. sweeet... he also did a guitar spin, except it pulled the lead out of his guitar.. he also dropped his pic once... but all good. :)
more than just dreaming was good too. me and jords went hard in the last part... at the end i stood up behind the drums and threw my drumsick (signed by all of us) into the crowd...
i've always wanted to do that.. and you have no idea how awesome i felt lol...
we were soo hot after... and chilled in the village with cold drinks...
what a show... without doubt our best...
ff5 at 7:50pm were wild!!! awesome though.. they put on a mean show... and played all their best songs.. even luv addict! love that song...
oh and i got the rapture ruckus ep! its an awesome cd...
after ff5 it was switchfoot.. they were were just awesome.. there was about 30,000 people at there show, it was sooo packed... the view was awesome though...
taken on my not-so-great camera phone too! :)
meant to live, stars, dare you to move, and on fire were awesome. man they put on an sweet as live show. their guitarest, drew shirley, played the nz national anthem on guitar! it was awesome... and in one part all the crowd threw their glowsticks towards the stage... it looked so pretty.
after switchfoot were the birthday celebrations. parachut eis 20 years old! yay there were fireworks...

sunday:

this day was awesome... mainly because we met some randoms in the tent behind us... actually we never we met them, we just bacame freinds and talked from tent to tent... thay were awesome and funny... which is what they thought we were...
we were in tents cause it was raining...
everyone was like why the heck is it raining at parachute???
ao we sat in our tent, played cards, and talked to the randoms...
then the thunder started. it was so loud, and the lightening was blinding...
the stupid thing was, we were in a small valley, and it got to almost knee deep water... the girls and our tents flooded, and lots of people were leaving cause it was raining. we were parachute punters hard though, and stayed despite it all...
the rain finally died down towards evening..
me and beka and jords went to see sleeptalkers.. their keyboardist was at or show!!! they rock...
at 8:30pm, me and jords and some others saw an american band in deluxe. they were so good! instantly like my fifth favourite. i brought two of their cds. their drummer coujld twirl drumstcks and play at the same time!!! and the guitarest did the awseomest solos ever..some as good as skillets (thats saying something!!!) they were so awesome...
his guitar was sweet, too...

more pics of willet:
another highlight of sunday night was triggor theory. and they're nz! :)
me and william are hardcore triggor theory fans..
their were about 1000 people outside palladium doors...
when they opened everyon ran in (including me and will)
we got awesome seats up the top in the middle...
triggor theory had a mean show. it was great.
as we fall was the best. they went hardout into that song.. we are hardout for that song...
take a listen...
the drummer, ian, is awesome!!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Jk331tWdVI
so yeah, sunday rocked!!!

monday:

we left this day :( it was raining again :(
llol me and will waited outside a shop that the lead singer of triggor theory worked in for two hours, but he didn't show up :( we still love them though.. our band, ground zero, is going to do a cover of as we fall.
the bus trip home was awesome...
at mcdonalds me and william were being a gang of gangsters it was sooo funny! we went hardout to songs on the bus as well....
i slept in till ten today...
it was lovely
cya next year, parachute..
nate
ps thanks everyone for your support, even if you couldn't make it to the show you all rock..
pss its the best music festival ever...
